12:18 PM .... the back in the day buffet??? is this for real???

old songs spead up?  whiney houston's "I get so emotional" spead up?  so am i moron for thinking this is retarded?

just what I need to hear during lunch... not an hour long custom mixed compilation of serious dance music, maybe unveiling a new artist or a new song from overseas, no.... but Whitney!

this is exactly what I meant... nyc dance listeners are not about the korney mix.  we a traveled bunch of listeners, 1st and 2nd generation americans from immigrant parents, that are craving what we hear on the radio when we go on vacation overseas.

TIESTO!!!!!!!! GRACE NYC AIRWAVES WITH YOUR MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and not just with one song either!)

to the powers that be, i hope you are listening... you want to do something right?  take what is playing right now on the radio, nov. 3rd back in the day buffet, AND DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE!!!  i dont want to listen to a long island bar!!!

and you know what, i hope Part 105 DOESNT change, for the sake of ITS OWN listeners.  why should they change their format to accommodate our needs here in the city???

if its works for them, that should be enough.  theyre going to ruin it for long islanders because management is getting greedy trying to expand to much.

WE NEED A DEDICATED STATION. PERIOD.

Immigrant parents?Huh  what the hell are you talking about.... well traveled??? dude... c'mon... you act like this is a radio station from Mississippi... YOU LIVE 40 MINUTES AWAY FROM THE STUDIO... do you think that the people in NYC and the people on Long Island are different people?  I love your posts.. they are so stupid... Vic IS NYC dance!  The man has been involved with MTV and KTU... some of the music you know is probably because HE broke it to NYC... you do not know what you are talking about, and radio station management knows people like you are clueless and probably look at what you are saying and make sure they are doing the opposite of that... your argument that NYC people are so different then people from long island is laughable... trust me.. they are the same people... as a matter of fact... KTU's signal is heard very well on the island... don't you think?  just settle down.. Pulse is gone.. there is nothing that anyone on these boards can do about it... so.. you need to either download all the songs on you iPod, or tune in to KTU, or hum to yourself.. but what's done is done.. and the people at JVC are not going to read this board and have some awakening because aiboss1 says they don't know what they are doing.. because you know what... THEY own radio stations.. so, they probably know what they are doing... don't ya think?

BTW... it's kinda obvious that you created this ID just to bash Party... 8 posts?

Yes. I can understand your disappointment in the loss of the station. While I thought Pulse could've had some specialty shows that focused on dance subgenres other than the mainstream New York dance sound, I appreciate that the guys behind Pulse did their best to make the dream happen. However, the fact is that the business failed. Nobody likes to read that a station that they like went out of business or changed under new owners. So it's understandable being angry at the situation.

I did say at another thread that Party FM would be, basically, a Long Island station broadcasting on a New York frequency. It's not a situation that I would prefer but then Long Islanders have to suffer the "indignity" of New York stations blasting into their way. So I guess it's fair play.  Wink

My hope that it's the beginning of their radical transformation into a NYC station in spirit if not in physical presence. Barring that, Party could split into "Party FM NY" and "Party FM Long Island" and have a separate studio for big city DJs. Let's not put the cart before the horse, though. Party FM has to first prove that it has staying power. So we'll just have to live with the "Long Island station" for now.

A 1.0 and 1,000,000 cume on a station few people can even receive or knew existed is not a failure by any stretch of the imagination, despite what the "experts" and microwave ovens would like us to believe.

Actually, Pulse *plateaued* at a 1.0 share and didn't quite crack the 1,000,000 mark in cume. And incidentally, you don't know how many radios were capable of receiving 87.7 FM, so stop it with the spin that only a very few could even get Pulse.

The only person that has been spinning is you.  Your bias and hatred are quite obvious.  And who cares if the station plateued at a 1.0?  Did anyone predict a 1.0 and a cume of 1,000,000 on that station?  Oh, you say that the cume was actually more like 960,000-970,000?  You do realize these numbers are extrapolated and are estimates that can vary up (or down).  But would YOU have predicted such a cume for this station?

As for many radios not receiving that station, it's not spin, it's fact, and has been well documented on this board.  There's certain radio manufacturers who do not make any radios that tune below 87.9, and other tuners that are so selective that they could barely receive any audio of 87.75 on 87.7.  The only spin happening around here is from you and other "haters."

He probably does, because the dance/Pulse 87 "haters" here are clearly "experts" while everyone else is "stupid."

Um, because despite those limitations, the frequency has proven it can attract a sizable audience?  And because it's probably the only way they could realistically break into NYC?  I find it hard to believe you can't actually figure this out on your own.

ive been listening to Party for the past 2 hours and its played NOTHING that would convince me to listen over Z100 or KTU.

is anyone tuned in or is it just me?? lol

I've been listening a little bit off and on. It sounds pretty good to me. A lot of dance music with a little bit of hip hop sprinkled in. I think it could work. I'm really digging the noon and afternoon mixshows. Now if they can get DJ Yonny and Glenn Frischa from Pulse then they're onto something.  Smiley

Hi everyone and thank you for reading my post and for your replies and opinions.

I want to especially thank Tony Santiago for actually being at the station and supporting the station we all grew to enjoy so much.

Tony, the last thing I want to do is start a divide of some sort within the dance music community.  I was simply stating my opinion and disappointment as a listener in losing a station like Pulse so soon.

But like most listeners, we are unaware of the hidden business behind a radio station.  And when we the listeners don't hear what we want any more, we're going to complain, as we all should.  To sit back and give things time without stating our opinions as listeners is meaningless, even if it means causing a stir.  Nothing wrong with a stir every now and then... that's whats wrong with our society if you ask me.  Sitting back and giving things time is what got us as a nation in the mess we're in.

Regarding Party 105, I'd be more accepting if they were the Party 105 from a couple years ago.  We all know they don't sound anything like they used to a couple summers ago.

I'm sure everyone involved with Pulse and Party are experienced individuals with dance music's best interest in mind, but I would like to move forward from where Pulse left off, not wait a year for Party to catch up to where Pulse left off.

And yes, BiggieFats, if the banks were actually lending money to small business owners instead of holding on to bailout money making their pockets fatter and raising our interest rates for no good reason, maybe I would have!

So again Tony, I am not looking to ruin anything.  Just looking to enjoy my radio once again, and I will support anyone with dance music's best interest in mind.

Regards,
Tom

Tom,

I've been monitoring many of the boards related to Party 87.7 on Facebook and I see the venting going on, with the hip-hop/R&B and repetition being the main complaints.

Yes, the station is NOT Pulse and many people felt upset about Pulse disappearing.  However, monitoring these boards as I have, to be honest, Pulse should have ended in August when the lawsuits were coming.  The bankruptcy gave them the "reprieve" to last the extra 2 months but the debt was too great to no avail.  If anything is to be blamed on the Pulse situation, it is the financials...NOT the format.  A million fans came out of this and if anything, it made people VERY passionate about dance music.

I can tell you this Tom, the people at Party FM ARE reading these boards.  They are reading all of the accolades as well as the criticisms such as this.  Believe me when I say, they are COMPLETELY AWARE of what is going on here and on the other boards and in due time, they will tweak.

Now, being that you are a potential advertiser, you want the MAXIMUM results for your business based on you promoting a product on said station.  Bottom line....$$$$$.  If somehow, you get clientele that like the rhythmic aspect of Party and they want to do business with you, are you going to "kick them out" because they're not into dance?  Unfortunately dance music is not as big in this country as other contemporary genres so if you HAVE to mix in (so I was told), a "Jay Z, Akon, Mariah Carey, Young Jeezy" but still have "Kim Sozzi, Lucas Prata, Cascada" and other dance artists in there, that may be the "sell" to get more dance to be exposed.  It's really not about the core fans (aka: P1's) in that sense.  It's about getting to the general crowd.  And if somehow, playing some of the hip-hop could open things up for dance, then its a win win, even for your business plan Smiley.  Besides, Pulse DID play their share of R&B/pop in there (Sean Kingston, Justin Timberlake, Akon, etc.) so in that sense they weren't totally "dance" either though for now they have played more.

But give things time, I cannot stress that enough!  Vic is a smart guy here and we have to trust that he will do our community proud!  So, please....cease fire in here.  A couple of these folks have gotten angry and by you "stirring the pot", you are not helping yourself nor the situation.  There are a lot of cool people in here and this site was founded by a person who REALLY LOVED dance music. (looking up in the sky....."Doug Fleming").

If in a couple of weeks things haven't changed, it will be addressed, but in a proper manner.  No negativity. Smiley

So let's all just continue to enjoy the station Smiley  But Tom, no more slamming on anything please.  If you don't to believe anyone else in here....believe me.  Vic KNOWS what he is doing and we all have to rally together and support.  There could be a "bigger picture" out of this which would benefit dance music as a whole.  If we are fans of the music, that's what we want anyway, right?

Think of it this way...we could have had NOTHING!
