And MarcR, WHY IS IT that whenever I answer something right back at you, you avoid?
Once again, I am SORRY for what you went through in your clubbing experience. But if you're going to spite the music for your own personal dilemmas, then there is something very wrong here. I'm not trying to diss you....really, I AM NOT. I had a bad experience at a rock club when a huge fight broke out 12 years ago. Even though I strongly favor dance, I have NO hatred for rock, despite that experience which cost me a black eye and bruised ribs.

I seem to remember a whole lot of criticism when pulse started up. To much freestyle, pop dance etc. Tony is right give these guys time. I'm sure in a couple of weeks Party fm will sound a little different than they do right now.

Thank you trock. I can also say, in confidence, that I am much closer to the situation with Party then I was with Pulse so I'm not just "spitting out" words here. We've been communicating and that is good!

The new Party FM sounds great. I think they go more heavy on the Dance as the day progresses, and especially at night. What I also like about this station is the fun/party atmosphere of the jocks, very reminiscent of Power 96 Miami. Even the commercials are fun, and are in sync with the overall sound of the station.

My distaste for (most) dance music is based on aesthetics and isn't necessarily related to my crummy nights out at dance clubs! Dance music, simply put, just doesn't have much to say to me.

I also hate the automatic assumption that, if you're gay, then you must love dance music. My sexual orientation doesn't determine my preference in music! I'm gay and I'm a fan of Alternative Rock!

I am actually GLAD you brought this up because on a future blog, I will talk about the stereotypes....the "gay", "clubbers trippin on E" and the "Guidos" because a lot of people DO stereotype these things. Yes, there are gays that like dance music, but as you mentioned, you're into Alternative Rock. I am sure there are those into R&B, hip-hop, country, classical, jazz, you name it! And no, not all clubbers are looking for crystal meth, nor are they all a bunch of Brooklyn and Staten Island guys raising fists up with the athletic shirt, chain and slicked hair! I do need to get at these because there are those that think that THIS is what dance music is...and there is SO much more than that.

Tony, Thank you for that informative and just perspective on the entire situation. You're right. Give things time. I hope Vic Latino and everyone at Party extract the information they need from these discussions to pick the road they're going to follow and look past the "slamming" as that's just a result of disappointment from losing Pulse. Lets move on to bigger and better things and work together to include our best interest in each others business models. Regards, Tom btw... got to admit, haven't heard Tiesto's remake of Timberlake's Lovestoned yet on Party (good song, hope they see that! )

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!!! As I mentioned on yuku.com, we are officially mourning the end of Pulse 87. We finally had a station we felt was our own... a local station that advertised and supported LOCAL business, a station that knew and understood its community and what it NEEDED to hear. I DO NOT support Party 105 playing its corney long island mix in Queens while advertising Suffolk county businesses. Pulse 87 even had a float in this year's Greek Independence Day parade, among other promotions at local mom & pop businesses. It was a local station for it's local listeners. I actually looked forward to driving back towards Queens and picking up 87's week signal... I knew i was heading home. The demographic is different in Queens than Suffolk, and the DJ that I heard on the radio today around 6 PM with DJ Surge that sounds like the TGIF waiter in the movie Office Space with the flair isn't going to cut it. SORRY. As a local small business owner myself, I feel we have lost more than just another radio station, but a voice that reflected the community on the air amongst so many commercial stations. And what's this about the Original Hot 97? I had to look down and make sure I wasn't wearing Z Cavaricci's or that my jeans weren't rolled up! Guys, its 2009 going on to 2010. The economy is bad and the general feel air is gloomy. WE NEED NEW, FRESH THINGS NOT A BLAST FROM THE PAST! I remember listening to Hot 103 when it became Hot 97.... LEAVE IT IN THE PAST! ON BEHALF OF ALL THE LISTENERS IN ASTORIA AND THE BUSINESSES THAT INVESTED IN ADVERTISING AND SUPPORTING THE STATION, BRING PULSE 87.7 BACK AND REMOVE PARTY 105.1 FROM QUEENS AIRWAVES. SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS! Tom S. Astoria, NY I COULDN'T AGREE WITH YOU MORE, EVEN GOING TO THE CLUBS IN LONG ISLAND IS LIKE YOUR AT A CLUB IN WISCONSIN. THE PEOPLE ARE SOO DIFFERENT, AND IT SHOWS. THANKS FOR THIS. I'LL BE LISTENING TO MY I-POD INSTEAD OF 3 SONGS IN A ROW of A HORRRIBLE SONG LIKE THEY PLAYED THIS MORNING. WTF was THAT ABOUT? $$ ? for PLAY ??
