Clear Channel has done it again! They are forming a series of talk-formatted stations known as "Rush [Limbaugh] Radio." Supposedly, in January 2010, WGBT 94.5 (currently a Spanish station on the La Preciosa network) in Greensboro, NC and WRDU 106.1 (a country station known as 106.1 RDU Country) in Raleigh will both flip to this new format. Wonder if any CC stations in this area (i.e. WTAM) follow suit?

Who and Why would CC blow up on FM to move WTAM to FM and why move to FM when WTAM is Non Directional 50kw station. plus they have Rush already on WTAM, in Canton-Akron they have Rush on WHLO and who would they blow up on FM To move him there plus the fact if they dont listen on WHLO to rush they get the 50KW Signal of WTAM, in YOungstown Rush is on WKBN, who in Youngstown on FM would CC blow up to move Rush to FM, besides another market that gets the 50kw signal of WTAM. the only Way i see CC Putting Rush on FM's is markets that they dont have Rush on one of their Stations already and there yanking it off of a competitor like in Carolina and in Minneapolis and Pittsburgh a few years ago. Thus in Ohio Rush will Stay on WKBN, WHLO, WTAM, WTVN, WKRC and WSPD in Toledo

I agree with Mike. We don't need anymore Rush in this area. I think that CC is using Limbaugh's renewed notoriety, and trying to ride on his coattails. Having the Democrats in power could be a huge shot in the arm to both.

We have enough of Rush and the Right. What we need is more of the Left on the airwaves! Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBycDNiOxR8Enjoy! This used to get played on WIXY-1260 in the Spring of 1967, charted on WIXY at number 30-something. It's not my YouTube posting.

What CC is doing right now with "Rush Radio" is having their stations acquiring the rights to Rush's show from non-CC outlets, some of which carried them from the beginning. It started with KDKA (to WPGB), then WWL AM/FM (to the first "Rush Radio" WRNO-FM) and now Curtis Radio's WPTF; (which is losing both Rush and Hannity to WRDU). So it's an apples and oranges argument.

Apparently, you forgot about when Akron's 1350 was "Radio Free Ohio" with the likes of Bill Press, Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz. The Dial Global hosts are still on the air--just not in Ohio.

I still can't figure out how a guy who is on something like 600 stations, in some areas--like NE Ohio--on two or three receivable signals at once, complains about the dominance and control of "the mainstream media". By the numbers, does he not have the #1 radio show in the USA? Yet he still carries on the shtick that he is somehow David against the Goliath of a media which is completely liberal controlled. Rush, Hannity and Beck are the biggest radio acts. Fox News is #1 on cable. The NY Daily News is the #1 paper in New York.
Now. even more 100% right-wing radio services, named in his honor yet!
Seems like HE is the Goliath.

I agree with you HHH. As far as I am concerned Rush, Beck and Hannity have become the mainstream media. They control the talk radio business. In my area here in Florida we have three, thats right THREE stations within our listening are that have those three on. Talk about controlling the media.

Let's see how bad poor little Rush is being outdone by the "big bad liberals". I should do a radio dial scan Monday to back this up, but last time I scanned my AM radio dial here's what I could receive at my location in Cleveland, who all had the same Rush show on simultaneously:
WKBN 570, WTVN 610, WHLO 640, ?WEOL 930? (I think), WWJ 950, WFUN 970, WTAM 1100, WSPD 1370, and maybe one in the 1400 KHz range, maybe 1440, 1450? Does WHBC 1480 carry Rush? So potentially 7 to 10 stations receivable right here in Cleveland. I don't think WAKR carries him?
Liberal talk shows that I know of: 0
I know 1350 in Akron had Air America for a while, and that's gone. What the hell is Rush complaining about, just like HHH said, Rush and his clones are the Goliath! An unneeded monopoly of the airwaves.

WAKR carried Rush from 1991 to 1994, when the current local owners bought WAKR (and WONE) and booted Rush off.
WHBC in Canton also carried Limbaugh at one time.
