How about 93.9 KXOS.  Look at their ratings, at least they are doing alot better than the old Movin format.

I don't know if their billing is better than the old KMVN format?

How many of us predicted that KFWB would end up in the toilet?

And the program director actually though that those Hosts would work in LA?

Its definitely a beautiful thing to see, them down in the gutter where there hosts and PD belong, props to the city for the continued rejection. Guess those moron laura spots didn't end up workin to well.

Yes, most of the shows aren't doing well yet, but Dr. Laura did bring some of her audience, and KFI is DOWN Noon-3 since she left. Also, some of the weekend shows (the non-infomercial ones) have had serious growth.

KFWB should have stayed all news or re-image themselves rather than transform themselves into news/talk. What a dismal failure they're gonna get lower ratings than KCAA and the old KGIL ever did.

KGIL, at their peak had a cume of 191,000....KFWB is over 700,000. Look at the overall numbers, it's Mon-Sun, 6a-Mid. That seems to include the weekends. I think once KFWB adjusts their line-up, as they will, it will get better. They're stuck with Laura Ingram because of the deal with Dr. Laura. (TRN) Some of the other shows will be replaced soon and then, someone other than Dr. Laura will get some ratings.
(and Musicfan, you are such a film freak fan, I would think you would be a huge cheerleader for the weekends on KFWB!)

Well, I'm 18 years old, I just made my board-op debut on Thanksgiving Day, and I think I'm qualified to actually host a weekend show on KFWB.

On another subject how come CBS hasn't knocked on Leykis's or Sam Philips's door for something on the weekends - at least! They could really spice up AM radio...

Problem with KFWB is that they did this all wrong.  Plus they have a LOT of competition.  KFI may have lost numbers without Laura, but does she really bring much to KFWB's table?  I tried listening to the station this week and it's not very good.  She's as rude, mean and narcissistic as ever, so it's like nails on a chalkboard.  The other hosts have nothing to offer for LA and as national talk shows go these are not the best, so you have a tertiary talk station at best.  They're right there with KRLA and perhaps not even as good as KABC.  That's not to say that it can't get better, but will it?  Talk is a watered down format in LA.  They needed to plug another hole, but there really isn't any.  CBS should have sold KFWB off years ago instead of sacrificing it for the sake of KNX.  Of course the worst thing they did was bring in Hall years ago so he could take both stations down.  It was like he was still working for Clear Channel, helping them kill the competition.

With AM listening decreasing all the time, one could argue that there is virtually nothing one can do with a second or third tier AM signal anymore.  In LA, only the blowtorches, KFI and KNX, have any hopes of attracting a decent sized audience.  The rest of the competition is for FM listeners.  Other AM signals will become "hobbies" for billionaires, similar to vineyards.  By the way, such hobby stations could prove to be more interesting than the leftover formats we have now for AM signals.
