Wow -- finally, a long-term deal for the Oakland A's on a local radio station: for the next ten seasons, they'll be broadcasting on KTRB (860 AM).

The Chronicle's A's blog notes that with KTRB's "all-sports format, the A's should be able to narrow the gap with the KNBR empire, although KTRB lacks the local programming of the the Giant 68":

Nice to see they have a long term deal.Living here in Sacramento it has been hard over the years to catch games.Local affiliates have been spotty. With KTRB I can drag it in any time. Also it is nice to see KNBR get a little competition.

I think if KTRB could get some higher-impact programming -- Dan Patrick, Tony Bruno, ESPN, etc. -- they'd make a bigger dent as an alternative to KNBR 680 and 1050. I'm not feelin' "Two Live Stews."
