I just noticed on my TV listings that MTV is showing old episodes of South Park. And not only that, but they're airing at 8 p.m. during primetime. Did I miss the boat on this or did this just start?

This thread should be retitled to MTV throws up the white flag, just totally gives up on 'original' programming'Tongue

It started within the last week or so. Somehow I expect it's either them borrowing tapes from Comedy Central as part of the wide-ranging South Park Studios deal, or as part of the syndication package of Fox/Debmar-Mercury which has the edited episodes that can actually air before 9:00pm.

MTV (and the other VIACOM networks) frequently borrow from one another. MTV is also showing Degrassi The Next Generation borrowed from sister network TEEN NICK.

Everyone Hates Chris is shared between Nick-at-Nite and BET.

Scrubs is/was shared between TVLAND and Comedy Central.

Married with Children was shared between SPIKE-TV and TVLAND. And on TVLAND is scored huge ratings.

ROSEANNE, which exclusively moved from Nick-At-Nite to TVLAND is now being shared between both networks.

That new channel (I can't recall the name) formerly known as BET J is showing reruns of MTV (and VH-1?) Reality Shows.

If they did, this would be an improvement for MTV. Roll Eyes

Of course, showing music videos on MTV would be a new programming concept.

How ironic MTV is showing episodes of World's Strictest Parents. Gee, isn't MTV the reason why these kids got in trouble in the first place?
