A story is running around that Johnny Ramirez has been replaced by Jason Mesa as PD/Music Director of KXTN.  Does this signal major changes at KXTN.  If so, I hope so, they play too many oldies for my taste.

I was referring just to his former position as PD/Music Director.   I should have stated that he continues, at least for now, in morning drive.

Ability will never catch up with the demand for it

And he will continue... his choice was to lighten the work load and concentrate on the show, which is certainly popular and successful.

I think that is a good idea for Johnny. He is a great guy (I got along with him really good). This will assist him on not getting "burn out" and be able to focus on the AM show.

I wish Johnny the best and that he continue to enlighten his listeners on KXTN in the mornings.

José.... please don't forget to tell radioeye where to find all those many new Tejano currents that KXTN should play to replace the oldies he is tired of...

You got it! Take it away!

I'm glad that Johnny is out as PD/Music director.  And I know of many others who are equally glad that the opportunity now exist for upcoming Tejano artist.

I'm glad that Johnny is out as PD/Music director.

And a Merry Christmas to you, too.

In any case, in larger market stations, the listeners are the music directors.

How many up and coming Tejano artists are there? The fomat, everywhere (and "everywere" is a tiny number of markets), is 35+, a demo notorious for neither wanting nor accepting new music.

The Tejano format desperately needs a Taylor Swift.

Congrats to Jason, well deserved.  Jonny is a great talent & beloved by the Tejano community.  My Dad listens to him in South Austin every morning.

The Tejano format desperately needs a Taylor Swift.

There are alot of great up & coming Tejano artists these days including AJ Castillo from Austin, Elizabeth from SA & many more.
