They've tightened up their playlist some, to my dismay (less older stuff like disco and 80s dance), but it's still a good listen.

I'm hanging with them.  I would suggest a slight change with their music "recycler".  What I hear on the ride home is often played the next morning.

Anyway, 10,000 songs in a row went by pretty fast.  However, the tv commercials are still running promoting the commercial free music.  By watching those commercials you'd think GROOVE was Top 40.

Yep - they are staying away from all those otherwise normally typical rhythmic AC songs I thought they'd stay from. At least they can't deny Debbie Deb, Lisa Lisa, and Expose though because those artists were big enough that people should know who they are no matter which part of the U.S. they live in.

I thought Nocera and Trinere were big, but I guess they aren't as known as those top 3 artists I listed above.

I seriously doubt that any George Lamond, Nice & Wild, Rockell, Connie, Lisette Melendez, Stevie B, Lil Suzy, TKA, or "oh sheila" by RFTW will get played, but I'm sure they must be playing Shannon if they are playing Expose, even though I didn't see Shannon anywhere on their top 100. Freak Nasty should be on there, too. Maybe I overlooked some of the obvious while I was focusing more on trying to find unexpected stuff. Ghosttown Dj's? Quad City DJ's? Now, I know they can't be forgetting or not playing those. Inoj??? They better because I'm even hearing "time after time" here in Az, which never even took off before we got our back in the day and today station in Dec. 2006, which is still played here even after the playlist reduction!

I can understand them not playing Danity Kane, since not playing Danity Kane was once an Atlanta tradition.

Rhythmic formats are supposed to be geared towards women... but when I play or enjoy my rhythmic hits, I'm just happy that I naturally know how to passionately play what the ladies love.

Even before I really got into radio, I did notice females do love the rhythmic sound and are more open minded than males, regardless of where I was doing "the research and tests" (yes, I used to do this type of stuff on my own as a kid throughout high school from Stone Mountain to Phoenix...etc.) It was always the males who were geared more towards one sound (Rock / Rap...etc.) while the ladies showed more interest in not only the hits, but also the rhythmic / hip hop influenced pop and dance hits, even the ones that were unheard of on Atlanta radio. I'm sure 95.5 The Beat turned a lot of females on when they first came on the scene playing variety hits and still continues to do so with the rhythmic format, and I'm sure the same thing is happening with Groove- it will naturally attract more females. However, the station may be geared towards a certain group, but I'm sure it's for all people, and they really don't care who is helping them in the ratings. After all, I used to listen to KVIB Club 95 Latino Vibe (reggaeton y mas) "For Latino's By Latino's" and no matter how much they rubbed in the fact that it was a station for latino's, I still enjoyed it, called in and had stuff played, had long talks with some dj's... and I'm sure many of them loved BET. We all enjoyed something that was geared towards a certain group of people. It didn't mean any of us became that..

Wal-Mart is geared towards people who love lower prices. I completely fit that description! However, I also see a bunch of people who don't fit that description shopping there as well, trying to foolishly hide their price tags as if it makes the items they purchased any better than they originally were when they were built.

I usually only listen to rhythmic music when I am in the closet. Now granted it is a big walk-in type closet so I can keep it a secret. When I am come out of the closet I pretend to like rock and roll and sports tslk stations.
