IE is considered MORE secure than Firefox
« on: November 18, 2009, 04:51:13 PM »

http://gcn.com/articles/2009/11/16/opera-internet-explorer-browser-security.aspx

Firefox was the most vulnerable browser, logging 44 percent of the total vulnerabilities found, according to the report. Safari, at 35 percent, ranked next to Firefox at the bottom. IE had 15 percent of the vulnerabilities, and Opera only 6 percent.

Interesting indeed......

Huh I'm confused! What if I switch to Google Chrome?

"IE is still the most-used browser, followed by Firefox, Apple Safari, Google Chrome (which Cenzic didn't study) and Opera.

Well techinally ANY BROWSER can be secure. (Depending on the users knowledge and how they have the browser options set)

Of course IE is more secure--it's so slow that you just give up and turn the computer off...

Absolutely right.  I will only use IE as a last resort.  I put Portable Firefox on a flash drive and always keep it close by so that it's available in emergencies.

I don't know if any browser is really secure.  I at times find Firefox to be faster than IE, but I usually have compatibility issues with some sites, browsed in Firefox.  I haven't used Opera in years & can't comment on it now.  I know I had compatibility problems with Opera in the past.  It mainly had to do with sites using Adobe Flash & Shockwave.  My main problem with IE 8 is that it's an even bigger memory hog than IE 7.  If IE 8 tries to open another window or tab (at least from my experience on my PC), it locks up until enough memory becomes available.

I consider Firefox's stripped down version, called "Swiftfox", running on Ubuntu Linux with dual 2.5 MHz processors, 4 GB of RAM and Comcast 50 Mbps internet the fastest possible experience you can have on the internet presently.....

I'm currently using Safari (4.0.4 version).  This Internet Browser is by far the most secure in my view.  I haven't had any troubles with it, so far.  Been an Apple user since January 2009 and have no regrets at all.  Glad I left Windows.  It was a headache for me to use anyway.

P.S. Like Mr. Bongwater stated, Cable Internet is the best way to go too. I'm glad I recently switched over to Charter Internet.  This Internet connection is the most stabled and the fastest one out there.
