I'm currently using Safari (4.0.4 version). This Internet Browser is by far the most secure in my view. I haven't had any troubles with it, so far. Been an Apple user since January 2009 and have no regrets at all. Glad I left Windows. It was a headache for me to use anyway.
R.D.P. <><
P.S. Like Mr. Bongwater stated, Cable Internet is the best way to go too. I'm glad I recently switched over to Charter Internet. This Internet connection is the most stabled and the fastest one out there.
Of course Safari will work great on Mac's. It's an Apple product. Microsoft stopped making IE for Mac several years ago. I believe IE 5 was the last version made for Mac. I don't know how well Safari works on Windows. I have yet to try it out. Now if only Linux were ready for primetime, so I could try it out, and software be readily available in the stores (which is rare for most stores that might carry software for Linux). As for Apple; if they think their operating system were that great, then they could steal plenty of marketshare from Microsoft, if they made a version of Mac OS for PC.

People want cheap computers and PCs are cheap, but I think the MAC is worth the extra money as it is more secure and easier to manage. It's like the old VHS/Beta controversy: Beta was better but people bought VHS. All of which is moot now that laser disks rule as DVDs.

The reason Apple is so expensive is because Apple doesn't want anyone else to make a Mac computer. You can't even make a make clone, because only Apple makes the ROM that makes it a Mac. Apple may not have a big marketshare, but I see them as a bigger monopoly than Microsoft. The only reason Microsoft dominates the PC market is because that's the OS that's on most PC's. Apple could gain some additional share is they were willing to market their OS to PC makers. That way, more software could be made available to the Mac OS, and not software mostly made by Apple. But they'd rather keep total control over their product, and can get away with it, while anyone else (primarily Microsoft) can't.

Actually Linux is not only ready for primetime, it steals the show.... Is it that easy to use though? When I last tried it out in 1999, I had trouble using it. If I got a dial up connection setup, I was able to dial into my ISP, but couldn't figure out how to disconnect my dialup. The only browser I remember working with Linux at that time was Netscape, as I don't believe Opera was compatible with Linux at the time. I don't know if it still is. Supposedly, AOL was working on a Linux version of their software for the AOL service. I don't know if AOL ever got around to making their online service software available to Linux, since it relies too much on the IE browser. They did have AIM for Linux around that time, but I don't see them developing their software for Linux today.

Weren't there Mac clones available for a while in the 90s? ISTR that during the period when Steve Jobs left the company there were clones.

Actually Linux is not only ready for primetime, it steals the show.... Only among people with no social life who have the time to figure out the configuration and don't mind if much of their hardware is unsupported.

Apple is more secure only because of its tiny market share. Hackers target the largest installed base to get the most bang for the buck. It has nothing to do with technical superiority. If Apple's market share were anywhere close to Microsoft's, you would be hearing a lot more about security holes in their products.

We have a Vista Basic computer and is a SUPER HUGE headache at times. I think I've been adding too much, but a long time ago, when I had an old XP, when I deleted some programs (System32 stuff) the screen went black and we couldn't get it to work ever again. The Vista is not responding in mornings, frozen (as long as 10 minutes) and takes a long time after I type in my password, takes about 8 minutes to get Firefox (or another internet browser) to work. I think I need to delete some files. In the worst case (if the screen goes black) we have backup discs that will put the whole Vista on again.
