Out of work and need to keep the pipes in shape while putting your talent to good use?
North Texas Radio for the Blind is the least known radio station in DFW, but one of the most neccessary. Broadcasting on the lower sideband of KERA-FM to a radius of about 50 miles, we read newspapers, magazines and books along with talk shows skewed toward the reading impaired (blind, low vision, dyslexic, etc.). NTRB needs volunteer readers for its Monday-Friday airings of "The Wall Street Journal," a one-hour program that will use two readers each day (so we need 10 readers.... we have 6 already) and begin airing in January after the holidays. We only need volunteers to serve one day a week and your time at the station would take up only two hours....9:30am-11:30am.

We need book readers too (current novels, mostly), but we also have an acute need for people who can... on CoolEdit/Audition... edit books that have already been read. Both of those jobs can be done at your convenience. We just ask that you come and stay with us for at least a year.

Oh yeah, we also have a production booth that's available to volunteers to update their tapes!

NTRB has a great vibe and is a great place to keep your spirits up. Volunteers already serving here are Sam Baker of KERA; Eric Nadel of the Texas Rangers Radio Network; Ira Lipson, formerly of KZEW and WFAA-AM, Barbara Schwartz of KRLD/Texas State Network; Dave Adams and John Lacy, formerly of ABC Radio Networks/Citadel Media; Raul Enriquez and Kevin Sutton, formerly of WRR; and Elena Westbrook, formerly of KJZY. (Remember Jazzy 99.1?)

We are located at 2007 Randall St. at McKinnON (not McKinnEY) near the American Airlines Center. Come join us and use your God-given talent for radio that -really- serves the public. Call our volunteer co-ordinator, Nancy Adrian, at 214-871-7668.

The station delivers programming that sight-impaired people can't get anywhere else.
It's a lot of fun to work over there and their studios are top notch.

Can you spare a couple hours a week to share your talents?
