I am now hearing that the war inside Cox Radio Atlanta is over and Jordan Graye has won!!!!!Maybe?Huh?  Jordan won the internal battle between herself and Kate McCarthy for female supremacy at the Cox Atlanta cluster. The good news for Jordan is she gets to stay. The bad news is Kate McCarthy will now be gone and have to sit on the sidelines for six months.

But the story does not end their folks!!!!!!

I have been told that Citadel will offer her the mid-day slot at True Oldies so she can go head-to-head with Jordan Graye. The winner gets to be runner-up to Mara Davis in the "Who is Atlanta's Favorite English Speaking Female Mid-day Host" contest.  Imagine the damage Kate McCarthy can do armed with a 5,000 song playlist while going against Jordan.

There are three theories here on what has happened.

1. Cox Radio was sick and tired of Captain Herb accidentally tossing the traffic reports off to Kate McCarthhhhaaaayyyyy for a check of the downtown connector when he was supposed to be tossing it to Kim McCartttttthhhhhhaaaaayyyyyy for a check of the Downtown Connector so one K. McCarthy had to go.

2. Jordan Graye tried to weild some power as the current runner-up to Mara Davis in the "Who is Atlanta's Favorite English Speaking Female Mid-day Host" contest and asked for a raise or else. Cox acquiesced but only on the grounds that she also voicetrack the afternoon shift at the River.  She gladly jumped on that opportunity. Hearing Jordan Graye do two shifts on two stations in the same day reminds of what Chris Rude did for awhile at Mix and 96 Rock.

3. Kate Mccarthy's talents within Cox were not respected enough and when she asked for more money she was flat out denied

I heard that McCarthy is going to be doing mornings at B98.5 once Steve and Vicki move to True Oldies.

Where is our intrepid radio reporter when you need him? Someone light the Ho signal.

Sorry, Rodney's sleeping in.  He's getting ready to do the overnite shift at True Oldies.

Sorry, Tibbs, but I have more recent information than you.  The True Oldies brass has decided since Kate did such a bang-up job on The River, they're going to put her in afternoon drive.  The other big news is when Steve & Vikki start doing mornings on True Oldies, Randy & Spiff will move to middays.  The biggest annoucement is Porsche Foxx will return to the air again, doing evenings on True Oldies.

As far as Rodney Ho's overnight show, they want to get him on immediately to play Christmas oldies using the name Rodney Ho Ho Ho.

Why can you never find a Ho when you need one?

Roddy - Any idea if Jordan Graye will use a different name when she VT's afternoons on the River? If so, any clue on the name?

Well, of course she'll use a different name on The River.  That way, nobody will ever know it's the same person.

I have reliable information that when Kate McCarthy came to the station, they gave her that name because it had the same initials as Kelly McCoy.  That makes it easy for everyone in the station to remember.  That apparently worked so well that they want Jordan to use a name based on Lance Houston's initials.  I'm thinking Laney Harris.

Voice tracking is more successful when you actually have successful, well established radio business people performing the task, who are not only established, but have a long history of good following and who can do a polished job more effectively in less time for considerable cost savings to a station or network.  I have heard junk voice tracking, and I have heard quality voice tracking.  If you want to save yourself and/or succeed you go with the well known, well established radio business personality, not an identity change every time you turn around.

It also looks kind of cheesy when you are hearing someone on the air while you are looking at him or her making a sales call in your office - although it does explain why it sounds even worse than live, has stale news, and the tracker repeatedly misses a post.
