As many have heard Bonneville has been rumored to be in talks with some big dogs at Citadel on their Disney properties.  They are only seriously interested in two markets, but here is what I hear so far.

BONNEVILLE WILL PICK UP CITADEL ATLANTA:
This will give Bonneville 101.5 WKHX-FM (Country)
This will give Bonneville 106.7 WYAY-FM (Oldies)

Bonneville will then give WKHX-FM/WYAY-FM to CBS RADIO who owns WZGC-FM/WVEE-FM

CBS in return will hand over St. Louis properties KMOX-AM, KYKY-FM, KEZK-FM.  These stations will add to the current Bonneville Portfolio of WXOS-FM, WIL-FM, WARH-FM.

KMOX-AM News/Talk
KYKY-FM Hot AC
KEZK-FM Adult Contemporary
WARH-FM Adult Hits
WIL-FM Country
WXOS-FM Sports

CBS will now own 4FM stations in Atlanta and Bonneville will own 5FM stations in Saint Louis.

The other BONNEVILLE MARKET is Washington DC.  By picking up the Citadel properties this will give them Hot AC WRQX, Classic Rock The Edge, News Talk WTOP, Federal Talk WFED and Talk AM WMAL.

Bonneville will strengthen in two markets and CBS will strengthen in one market while shedding one they dont want.

---------------------------------

Speculation #2 is that BONNEVILLE will give CITADEL KSWD-FM Los Angeles in exchange for their AM/FM combo in Chicago, but I personally see that being a little hard to believe.  Sure CITADEL owning the AAA and CLASSIC ROCK in Los Angeles would be great, but WLS is a heritage radio station!  Maybe Bonneville will go into Detroit?

The speculation sounds possible but already the whole board is assuming CBS will brillantly program WYAY into the envy of the group.
For years, Rick and the guys have given most attention and protection to one station in the cluster that makes so much money that this one station excuses their lousy job of running the rest of the group. That station is V103.
For a decade 92.9 has dicked around from format to PD and the result a few hits but a lot of misses. So let's see now, they're going to get WYAY and do it right? They don't have enough local management in key positions to handle it. V is the local CBS story. It's why they've never lost jobs over 15 years of worthless results from 92.9.

Is Kicks big enough to run itself?  Kicks seems to be on a roll lately--more so than right after the Eagle/True Oldies flip, and despite Bull finally getting traction.  Is this due to benign neglect from Citadel?

I also ask the same thing about True Oldies.  Despite what GT&8O says, True Oldies is doing well as well, especially considering their canned format and shoestring budget.  TO is doing better than Cool 105.7 ever did, or Fox in its last few years.

I also agree that there's no excuse for Z90Dave.

Are you suggesting that going from benign neglect under Citadel to perhaps more intervention (meddling) by CBS would hurt Kicks and True Oldies?

Except that it is a stretch to consider what's on 100.3 FM in L.A. to be AAA.  Check their playlist [link below] and you tell me!

Agreed. Citadel already owns KLOS, I don't see what they could do with 100.3...unless my dreams would come true...100.3 FM Talk

OK, Bonneville's not getting these stations...I AM!  I've got $6.48 in my piggy bank and Citadel has said "yes" to my generous offer.  I'm changing the format of Kicks to Hindu music (as that faction of the community is far underserved).  True Oldies will be flipped to this awesome idea somebody on this board gave me...PLANET RADIO!

What do ya think!   Grin
