At least Drobny has somewhat of a clue: he realizes that the only way to get this sick puppy in working order is to buy and control the signal's instead of leasing them. Look at what he did in Phoenix.

Ahem!  Sorry, he is leasing in Phoenix and Little Rock.  So far, he hasn't bought any stations.

But the way to fix the sick puppy is put on shows whch will attract an audience which attract advertisers which will attract stations with good signals to carry them.  Leasing is part of the problem.  When you syndicate the station is your partner with an incentive to promote and sell the show.  With an LMA, the station is your landlord looking for a check every month.

CLBuck:  Her weekend program is sponsored by the Nation.  Do you have any hard information that the magazine will be involved in a weeknight program and will cover some portion of the costs?

It appears that weekend host Laura Flanders will be permanently taking over Mike's 10 PM slot, beginning September 18.

Why is it that every time a liberal gets upset with soemthing they have to protest, or sign some worthless petition???

If you are going to inject politics into this, at least put your room key at Hypocracy Hotel in your pocket, because now everyone knows where you are staying.

poor Phil.

sigh. I think you have 'Democracy' confused with 'Hypocrisy'...Ironic, huh? Wink

Here is none other then Droby's QUOTE from HuffPo:

<<As I stated before, I am a minority owner of AAR and I am not on the board of directors. I do run 2 AAR affiliates in Phoenix and Little Rock. However, the AAR board does not seem to want my advice. It is a shame because I could really help. I have lots of experience in business and I understand good talk radio. .>

Now, I guess 'running' 2 affiliates means 'leasing'...Except Droby has been on record saying "In Milwaukee, the Drobnys are seeking larger investors as well as average folks who would invest $10 to $100 toward acquiring a station. Nova M wants to lease with an option to buy, and struck such a deal in April for a station in Little Rock, Ark.

The guy has been vocal in asserting that the only way to heal this wounded baby seal, is to own the club.
Phil, put down the club. If anyone here 'injects' politics, it's you, my french friend Grin

According to http://libertyinchaos.livejournal.com/17390.html (and granted, it's not exactly an official source), Elliot will only temporarily fill-in the slot next week and the week after that, until the 18th. Besides, I'm sure he doesn't want to do 7 days a week of talk radio permanently (he has a weekend afternoon show on KLSD).

Perhaps Malloy can sign with Sirius, considering their Left channel has plenty of room.

Nobody is listening to SAT..Realize the failure of Howard Stern.. (but he has been paid)

The interesting question that Doc and Damp can't answer is why is AAR' website still has Mullah Malloy listed in their lineup?  Is it true that cash crunch probs are so severe that they can't pay someone to edit a couple of HTML lines..

Hmm, lemme guess... It's George Bush's fault.. He made a phone call and black helicopters started flying around just befor randi rhodes did a ***** on mullah malloy

 i got it

They still plan on offering podcasts of his show, from what I hear.

I still think Mike's firing was botched terribly.

>>Laura Flanders

Though a different thread on this board says it's Jon Elliot and the AAR schedule page confirms it

http://www.airamerica.com/schedule

but the liberal talk radio blogspot says that it's just Elliot temporarily..?

your absolutely right. Because we all know that when you get fired in radio, they give you 2 weeks notice so you can complain about it on the air

Actually, AAR has a pretty unusual track record of letting departing talent have a chance to say goodbye to their listeners.

AFAIK, This is the first time they have not done so.

Actually, I'm the one who runs that blog (http://ltradio.blogspot.com).

Jon Elliott was approached by AAR to fill in the next two weeks and accepted it (according to an email from a programming assistant at KLSD). There is no official word at this point regarding the permanent resident of that time slot, but Malloy seems to think it will be Flanders.
