Seattle has been blessed with great radio talent over the years… and Mike West epitomizes the bunch, with his unwavering ability to surprise, entertain, and inform every time he opens the mike.  I’ll always cherish my copy of “A Wayne Cody Christmas” from an X-winter many years ago.  Vincent, hope to catch you on the waves again soon.  -Rick

Well said.  West is a class act.

Jr. High. I would ride the school bus to school, and the bus driver would have KISW on. When I heard Crow & West it just emphasized the fact that I wanted to work in radio. I knew it since age 9, and hearing the show that Gary & Mike did (and Robin & Maynard for that matter) I knew it was in my blood. I had a chance to go work at KXRX and I shall NEVER reveal my true identity on here, but it was simple the most incredible years of my life.

People can say it about whomever they want, but I say it about Vinnie. There is nobody in radio like him. He is truly a one of a kind person. He is the coolest and nicest person working in radio that I have ever met. I always tell people...'Mike West put the Dot in 96DOT5". And he did. I don't post on here that much because of the likes of airwaver, whose agenda I just can't figure out, but I had to say something in this post. Thanks for some great radio Mike. Thanks for some great off the air times. You sir....are a class act.

The next question is: how will Marty do as a morning guy?  Will this help or hurt the Mountain?

Got some good info from inside Entercom hallowed halls that Jody will definitely be joining the show. If Marty and she are together long enough, she can help him develop into a good host as she has been great along with with Andy Savage. Marty will be lead, though, and will be great. No more 5:20 funny - now he will have to make the jokes! Hopefully he will translate. I hear that John Fisher may be added as a third eventually.

I liked KXRX and was sad when it left and got replaced by a Country station. The funny thing is once KXRX went off the air I never thought I would go back to 96.5 again and now I listen to Jack FM. I still listen to Jack FM even after over a year although they do repeat songs a lot.

                              [1.75 MB - 3:03 - MONO/couldn't get it in stereo then]

This was the 'X' in the afternoon on April Fool's Day 1991 when Maynard (with West)
filled in for Crow that one day and vice versa - (regularly that year 'R&M' in the AM and 'C&W' in PM)

This is one of - if not 'THE' - funniest Mike West I've ever heard - totally hilarious!

Wait a minute - I had assumed (wrong) that West was truly retiring. But in the Virgin article it says he was "pushed" rather than jumping. WTF is wrong with them? They weren't planning on renewing his contract to save money? What?

You sound more upset about it than Mike does.  Not all contracts run forever.  He had a great run and now he's free to try something else and the radio station is free to change, try new things, create new possibilities and move into the future.  They'll pay him what they owe him and move on.  Deal with it.
