You sound more upset about it than Mike does.  Not all contracts run forever.  He had a great run and now he's free to try something else and the radio station is free to change, try new things, create new possibilities and move into the future.  They'll pay him what they owe him and move on.  Deal with it.

Well said, Sir.

Well said.

Got some good info from inside Entercom hallowed halls that Jody will definitely be joining the show. If Marty and she are together long enough, she can help him develop into a good host as she has been great along with with Andy Savage. Marty will be lead, though, and will be great.

SO. I hear Marty in the Morning, but so far no Jody. Is the Mountain saving money by eliminating a position? Or is Jody to come later? Anybody know? I was looking forward to Jody working with Marty. By himself Marty kind of annoys me. I can't imagine him making much of an impact in the market in mornings.

Bigger picture, the forced retirement of Mike West (no doubt the best quality personality on the station) leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. And the music seems to be changing slowly too- more and more mainstream rock sounding; less and less folk, reggae or world-music mixed in. The "Green Report" and the "Mountain Green Team" seem to have been eliminated or marginalized for some time now. What was once a very fun and VERY SEATTLE station is becoming very dull.

My best to Marty and I hope they do pick up Jody and the new Music Director (have they hired one yet? I lost track) gets up to speed and the station doesn't coast into irrelevance.

i agree. he needs a partner other then his traffic girl. bring on jody! as far as a music director, they have haley jones now for quite some time. the question is, will they replace pd shawn stewart? if she was the one who decided to relaunch one afternoon guy and a traffic girl in the morning to replace a heritage show, i say big mistake.

Did you not see what Mike said about Jody and/or Fisher joining the morning? I believe it was "wrong and incorrect."

Also, what would you do with a heritage show that had numbers in the dumps? Can you blame the PD?

This is my first time and probably last time to this board.  My comments are going to sound pathetic but on hearing of the changes I felt a sense of loss than Mike is moving on, so I sought out this board.  To me this guy's voice was the sound of Seattle radio for many years.  A few years ago we were lucky enough to win a trip to Mexico on the Mountain's dime.  We had a great time and discovered what a nice guy West is.  He was very proud of his family and talked a lot about his wife as well as his son and daughter (fortunately they were all interesting conversation).  We both walked away impressed with how pleasant he was.

Mike if you happen to see this we hope to hear you pop-up again somewhere (hopefully with a big Sirius radio salary or something).

Mike W. was a class act.  Speaking of class he spoke in mine at Nathan Hale High school.  It was a radio class I was taking in 1989 at KNHC C89 fm.  I was in the same class as Eric Powers...KUBE PD.   Each day I drove from Inglemoore High School for the last two periods to learn radio.  Eventually on the air at KUBE, KCMS....  Then off to college after graduating from High School.

Mike would come to Nathan Hale and often talk about his start in radio...at KNHC...at the time he was at KXRX.  He actually had the fortitued to listen to my crappy airchecks.  Mike's influence has helped inspire an almost 18 year career in broadcasting.  I am currently on the air doing mornings in Houston.

Thanks Mike for being a great talent, and great mentor!

I , like a few others on this board, grew up listening to you on the air, Mike. Seattle radio will be a little less.. interesting without you on the air. Just the other day, I was listening to an old KISW Composite. What GREAT RADIO!  I still remember being a kid and coming down to the station. Barb McMichaels <?> introduced me to what the KISW studio at 1200 Stewart St. was like.. To watch you guys do your show from behind the scenes was KILLER! You, Crowski, Slaton, Maynard.. ALL influences in making me decide at a young age that it was better to be behind the mic than to work at Boeing.. I thank you sir.. Fifteen years into this business I have finally found a place where I can settle down and in essence have the longevity that you have had in your career. Once again.. Thanks for the memories.

Wow not much I can say other than I cut my FM teeth listening to Mike at KISW, KXRX I was just listening to his last day at KXRX  Grin

Maybe now that you have so much free time you can drive over to KZOK and hang out with Crowski every now and then, that would jump start some wild memories Shocked

You Are Truely A Class Act Mr. West, You Will Be Missed....
