Just got my Radio Shack catalog in the mail. NOTHING about HD RADIO.

Did they have AM Stereo radios or Laser disc movie players?  All pretty much the same.

Plenty of XM-Sirrius stuff. I went to Radio Shack today and ask why isn't there anything on HD RADIO in the catalog the guy said he was aware of HD RADIO but NOBODY has ask for them. You can thank radio for that. These companies spending all this money on HD RADIO and i hardly hear jocks, promos, promotions promoting it.

Radio should stop worring about HD RADIO and embrace Internet Streaming!!!!!!

you hardly hear stations promoting hd radio? i rarely listen to radio in dallas these days -- but i absolutely can't listen for 5 minutes WITHOUT hearing a promo for hd radio. they are EVERYWHERE, on 5 or 6 stations i button-push through. i hear it more than the edge plays weezer or kzps plays boston!

that said, the radios at radio shack are still WAY too expensive, even for a radio person or radio geek.

HD Radio is a big joke.  Its a waste of time and money.  Why would jocks on regular radio want to promote something that would take people away from listening to them and that brings in zero ad revenue?  Such a waste.

Ahhhh...too bad.  Guess I'll have to resort to my little catalog collection for an occasional fix.  Always enjoyed looking for the products that had the little box next to them that proclaimed, "NEW FOR '72" (or whatever year.)

Anyone remember Burstein-Applebee?  Not big here in Dallas (a few mall locations in the mid- and late-70s) but mainly a great Kansas City-based mail-order outlet for anything and everything electronic.  They put Radio Shack to shame back in the day...all those little pieces and parts you could not find elsewhere.  Also was one of the few places in the 70s where you could buy high-end, name-brand stereo equipment.  B-A was dried up by the 80s, after 50+ years in the biz...not sure what happened, but I sure miss 'em.

Me too. It was a good store.  I even miss Olson Electronics (AKA: "Japan-Land). Lafayette Radio never ventured west but they were also  great electronics retailer, at least for a while. All three put Radio Shack to shame.
