CBS Radio news KNX/Los Angeles' 9 a.m.-noon "Money 101 With Bob McCormick" news/talk business program is going away, and the station will revert back to all-news during weekdays.

...Bob McCormick was known, of course, as Robert McCormick during his lengthy tenure here in the Bay Area (including KFRC, KPIX, KCBS and KOFY). What isn't mentioned is whether Bob will continue as an anchor on KNX.

I've heard him quite often on KNX over the past few years, and he'd make an excellent talk show host, perhaps in a KGO-type situation...

Not being a radio insider, I don't REALLY know the answer...but that never stopped me before. I know that both Los Angeles CBS All News stations (KNX and KFWB) are in the ratings basement.  A couple of years ago, CBS hired David Hall - the manager credited with the huge success of talk station KFI.  After taking over, Hall turned both news stations toward less hard news, more features, topical talk shows like Bob McCormick's, and sports.  KFWB became the Dodgers station. The results have not been good, so management may be re-positioning one or both stations back toward hard news.

The irony is - back in the 70s when both stations were high-rated competitors, "All News" KFWB was the hard news station, while "Newsradio" KNX ran a lot of hour long features like cooking and gardening shows, and the great CBS Mystery Theatre in the evening. In San Francisco, the Mystery Theatre was farmed out to KSFO because it didn't fit with KCBS's all news format.

Back to Bob McCormick - I think CBS realizes his worth and will keep him in some capacity (Business Editor, perhaps) - unless he really wants to return to the Bay Area. Of course, I could be wrong...

Another resume item DJ didn't mention - just to bring everything back to James Gabbert - McCormick was the anchorman on the short-lived KOFY TV20 10 O'Clock News

If  James  Gabbert  was  in charge  at  KFRC,,  we  could  have  Sean  king  doing  the  news, Gabbert  knows  radio  far  better  than  Preston,,  Funny  how  things  work  out, or  dont,  too  MUCH   vo   on  KFRC!!  Let  the  DJ s  get  on  the  air!  Preston  how  come  Cammy  could  ramble  on,  and  Celeste  is  so  limited!!  One  year  ago  it  was  open  Mic,,,are  the  DJs  charging  you  buy  the  word,  or  is  this  the  new  way  we  listen  in  the  bay  Area?  Why  not  give  us  what  you  give  LA?  They  have  live  DJs  and  a  whole  different  type  of  radio,  Huh  both  owned  by  CBS,  yet  so  very  different!! KRTH  is  so  much  better  than  KFRC,,I  doubt  KFRC  will  ever  hold  a  candle  to  KRTH,  Kenny  in  Concord

Kenny - you're preaching to the choir here.  I don't think a single person has posted on the SF Board who claims to like the new almost-jockless KFRC, or that wants Cammy back.

Every thread doesn't have to be about KFRC. This thread was about Robert McCormick.  BossRadioDJ only mentioned KFRC and James Gabbert because McCormick worked at the Big 610, and for Gabbert's KOFY TV20.

Bob was on KTLA a few years ago doing stock market stuff. He's top notched.
