I heard this week that among those possibly lined up to replace Carolyn McArdle (quit? fired?) at KKIQ/101.7 over in Pleasanton are Dean Goss or Jack Friday. Two other names were mentioned as potential candidates, but these Goss and Friday are reportedly the strongest candidates.

...Which means I just guaranteed that one of the other two will get the job.

Jim Hampton, who was KKIQ's morning man forever and ever, is filling in on the A.M. shift until a permanent morning host is brought on board.

i think i heard her on k101 in the last couple of days.  for those of us who get around in the bay area and listen to different stations and different personalities, it kind of makes you perk up and go .....hmmmm.....where did i hear her before.

Somebody once told me that Dean & Jim have been friends, forever.  So, if we're placing bets...

In the meantime, c'mon Carolyn, why'd ya leave?

According to Mike Preston who knows the big guy at KKIQ...DEAN GOSS will NOT get the job.

Why would anyone leave KKIQ?  Hmmm...don't know...could be she doesn't like her morning newsperson...Just a guess there. Also, working for Hometown Broadcasting, while at times it can be very cool, can ALSO be like working for a basic cable station.

Why would anyone leave KKIQ? Small town. PD is a hack. They're cheap.

My guess is Faith Alpher will get the morning gig. If they don't hire her, they'll be running an all male cast of jocks. Plus, she'll probably cost less than the guys with large market experience, which I think will play a bigger part in the decision-making process. Just my guess, I could be way off.

Good luck to Carolyn, she deserves to be in a bigger market.

True, but the KKIQ World Headquarters in Pleasanton is a first-class operation. I had the pleasure of touring the facility a few months ago, and it's as good -- if not better -- than many of the Big League stations in San Francisco and San Jose.

As far as audio quality, I'd rate KKIQ's sound well above that of almost any station in the Bay Area. John Higdon does a magnificent job on the station's audio and technical end.

As i drive across the usa many times i hear better audio processing in small/med markets. I have a theory....many of the really good engineers are older and have left the big cities. I mean just listen to most stations. GRUNGE. Bad Levels, improper compression/limiting. Bad clipping! EQ overbearing, Etc, Etc, Etc...No punch Just L-O-U-D! SAD Angry

Maybe Joe Breezy should get the morning gig at KKIQ. He is what I think one of the most talented radio personalities in this market....my two cents!

WASSUP YA ALL!!!! IT'S THE WORLD'S MOST LOVEABLE AUTISTIC HAMMERIN' HANK. I MADE CONSTANT APPEARANCES ON ONE OF THE BAY AREA'S HIGHEST RATED MORNING SHOWS, "THE WILD 94.9 DOGHOUSE" FROM AUGUST 1996 UNTIL APRIL 2005 WHEN THE SHOW WAS CANCELLED. I HOPE TO SECURE AN ON-AIR RADIO GIG SOMETIME SOON!
