I have read and heard about the pending changes at TalkRadio 950 KPRC and am not surprised if true.
They are in panic mode perhaps 1560 has them concerned or the total loss of audience since raped.
This poor victim may never recover.  Mr. Berry's leadership will certianly lead them.  We know from history he will feed them talk nice then if it works they will be on KTRH before the next book.  Once again KPRC will be a victim of a horrible act.  If not a hit you will hear  CC yell "gottcha W&J get out of town on the next bus."

Mr Berry is doing a fine job with KPRC. I hope he continues his efforts.

I must have dozed off somewhere and missed a discussion of this.  What pending "changes" is truthsayer talking about?  Does he know what he's talking about Chuck?

Apparently KPRC is changing to what they are calling "MOJO". It will be a male based talker.  Chris Baker and some chick will be on KPRC from 2-4, they he will slide over to KTRH.  On 740, after Limbaugh, Hannity will air, then Baker until 7pm.  I don't know where that leaves Michael Savage.  I hear he is being pushed back to early evening (after 7pm) or later.

The rumor is Walton & Johnson doing the morning show on KPRC. I certainly would welcome that change. So many changes on KPRC in the last 6 months or so: 1st, they mistakenly fired Pat Gray within 30 days of 2nd, moving Rush Limbaugh to KTRH.

It's called audience shock. Make major changes like that and they start seeking something else. Some followed Pat Gray to KSEV. (Pat does a much better show by himself. I've always liked Pat Gray.) Others went to KNTH. In both cases, some came and stayed while others left. Some went back to KPRC. Many didn't even know that KNTH exists.

Mr Berry has no radio programming experience!
My point is we need radio people running radio stations.  I have heard from employees from at the CC compound just how great things are.
I have had bad feelings since the demotions of so many full time employees to part time and the way it was done after a party Mr Berry had for the same employees just days before.

Having never worked there my opinion comes from what those inside tell me.
Ken Charles was a radio man and gave KPRC a new life.  Ken Charles gave a dahm how the staton sounds.
He was ambushed by a survey and his departure was celebrated by his staff.

Ken Charles came on this forum and stated his opinion and everyone of us knew where he stood.  You got to respect a man that is up front.  I doubt you will get that from the current boss!  Ken may not have been the nicest guy but a employee most likely knew where he or she stood.

If these changes are for real and they are moving Bakker back adding W&J to mornings basically reversing a costly court battle with W&J.  You got to wonder!

Are you f'ing serious?Huh   If this is true, it took Clear Channel less than 10 years to kill off 'NewsRadio 740 KTRH'.  WHY WHY WHY have they turned KTRH into a conservative talker???  The best combo marketing for KTRH/KPRC during the CC era have been "Hear about it on NewsRadio 740... and talk about it on TalkRadio 950 KPRC".  It's an easy mantra to follow.

And of course the CC idiots right now are having to nuke 950's midday lineup for Rush everytime there is an afternoon Astros game.  Talk about screwing with your audience, you're changing the freaking lineup every week.

I have been in Chicago over the past few weeks and I don't understand for the life of me why KTRH can't do news all-day like 780 WBBM.  WBBM has reporters EVERYWHERE, plus suburban bureaus.  A growing market with traffic screw-ups everyday like Houston can't support an all-news, traffic and weather station from 5a-7p?  Come on.  Get some cajones.

I wish Salem had the guts to kill their set lineup of corporately owned shows on 1070 and go all-news from 5a-7p.  They have a great 10,000 watt signal, and if KTRH isn't going to use their's, someone else should fill the void.

I'm sure someone can recap this better than me, but in the past four years Hannity has been moved from KPRC (tape delay 6p-9p) to KTRH partial live (2p-4p) to KPRC live (all 3 hours, 2p-5p) and now KTRH live (with Astros preemptions).  If you're a casual listener, how can you keep up with the changes???  Also, with the '08 election coming up, will Berry be smart enough to not screw with the lineups while many casual listeners are checking out the stations for the first time?

If because of budgets you couldn't do all news on KTRH from 5a-7p, I would do the following lineup:

KTRH
5a-9a News
9a-12p Talkshow (anyone local---  no Tom Martino)
12p-1p News with Paul Harvey
1p-4p Chris Baker
4p-7p News
7p-10p Talkshow (anyone local---  in the past 20 years KTRH has only had sports shows on at night, why not have someone local [Joe Pags isn't in Houston] go a full 3 hours?)
10p-12a Dennis Miller or any other tape delayed national show
12a Coast to Coast AM

KPRC
5a-8:30a Local Talkshow 1
8:30a-11a Local Talkshow 2
11a-5p Rush & Hannity
5p-7p Mark Levin
7p-10p Michael Savage
10p-12a O'Reilly (Tape Delayed)
12a-3p Phil Hendrie

You can't seriously think Ken Charles has ever been good at anything having to do with broadcasting.

He is very obviously an ego maniac with the worse voice ever to be on the sending end of a mike.  And his people management skills can't be bottomed by any other executive on the face of the planet.

I wished they'd do Progressive/Liberal Talk to counter act the Rush/Hannity spin zone.  I vote for this lineup...

5am-8am... The Bill Press Show
8am-11am... The Stephanie Miller Show
11am-2pm... The Thom Hartmann Show
2pm-5pm... The Randi Rhodes Show
5pm-8pm... The Ed Schultz Show (delayed)
8pm-11pm... The Mike Malloy Show
11pm-5am... Air America Programming

I'm advocating the Fairness Doctorine Talk here, I'd just like to hear something different.
