Bill,

You are correct about his personality;though I give him more credit on his radio skills.  His voice was horrid.  I would rather work for a lion so I know when he is around than a snake waiting for the ambush!

Ken was a radio programer and always atleast as far as I know stuck up for his stations.

Mr Berry has no radio programming experience!
My point is we need radio people running radio stations.

That's exactly why I hope Mr. Berry continues his work as program director.

Chuck,

Your opinion is interesting.  I would completely argue the other direction.  Sir you are a smart radio guy and I respect your thoughts.

Question: Why do you feel this way?  The idea maybe of something new or are you tired of the same old thing?  The ideas of "The 9 5 0"  and isolate a audience between both of your AM's seems like not such a great idea.  CC has swaped so many shows back and now forurth again w/ kprc & ktrh.  Not a good idea to keep listeners fustrated trying to find thier show.  This seems even more of a problem w/ ppm they will be jumping around and possibly leaving the AM for Fm or other.  Next thing IF 1560 comes on with a class act then you will have nothing to stand on since you have completely trashed the audience.

I wish 1070 took a jab and took the clean sounding format and do some local talk and news.  It sounds good format wise.  Just add some local talent and news and Salem would make some dents.  Yes they would have to spend $ on billboards and staff.  Many that vist here would agree.

My opinion is subjective and selfish. The mis-steps at KPRC have helped increase listenership for KNTH. That's why I am glad to see Mr. Berry in charge at KPRC. He does not have the radio experience. He may be a good businessman, I do not know.

I have a situation where I have to work around the national shows. I created the "talk islands" to see if I could get some local stimulation. The only local talk we have during the week, is in the form of "local talk islands" during the national shows. That's what I do in the mornings. Lyndon Joslin, a Houston fixture on Houston radio for many years does his commentary middays and Mike Harvey does it in afternoon drive.  Like many stations, our local news comes from Metro. Roger Bateman (with KPRC for many years) does the news in the morning. Gail DeLauter (with KTRH for many years) does afternoon news.

I have heard that that KNTH looked good in morning drive against both KPRC and KSEV. Although, I cannot confirm that. KTRH led the pack.

KTRH Announced their new lineup this morning, effective July 30:

4am- Wall Street Journal This Morning
5am- KTRH Morning News
9am- Joe Pags (moves from 6pm)
11am- Rush Limbaugh
2pm- Sean Hannity (moves from KPRC and loses one hour)
4pm- Chris Baker (pushed back two hours)
7pm- Michael Berry (moves from 6am, KPRC)
9pm- Dennis Miller (pushed back one hour)
11pm- Coast to Coast AM (pushed back one hour)

---------------------

Paul Harvey is not mentioned for the 10:45am timeslot, but I assume he stays there.

If KSEV or KNTH offered a sweetheart deal, could they steal Hannity from CC if they agreed to air all 3 hours live?  In reality, probably not, but I'm sure ABC hates how Hannity has been jerked around in Houston.

Anyone want to take bets on how long this lineup stays in place?  I say it gets changed around December 15th.

Also, on the KTRH website, the 'NewsRadio' has been removed from the KTRH logo on their schedule changes graphic.

If ever there was an example of mis-programming two radio stations, this may be it.

Dear Chuck,

Your reasoning gives all us us hope.  Keep it going!

The station sounds very clean and well formated.  There are few stations on the AM that sound so clean!

KPRC and Ktrh are not one of them.

The circus at CC will give stations like yours a real chance.

Go get em!

Hmm...let's see here. Preset 4, KPRC...deleted. Preset 4, KNTH...stored. Well! That was easy.  Grin
