Despite a move by DKS to a Hip Hop format, listeners still tune into a fuzzy AM at 1400. That's amazing in itself.

That Withers guy isn't doing much. Guess a AC on a rimshot just wasn't in demand. On the other hand, yall must love sports because a fuzzy FM gets a 1.5 despite the fact no one can really hear it.

Did WBKR ever have a rating above a 2-3 share in it's lifetime in the Evansville book? Saw some numbers from 1977 and it was a 2-3 share station. Today, it's still that.

WYFX's signal doesn't seem that bad...I was listening to a Cards game in the parking lot of Eastland Mall when I was in Evv last time.  I mean...for a Class A rimshot.

How long has DKS been hip-hop?  The book ended in mid-June.  I didn't see anything on here about it until a couple weeks ago.

I really like WEOA (at least the TJMS...don't think I listened to it in other dayparts), and my format of choice is Country.

BKR did show up strong a little over fifteen years ago.  The 1100 foot tower was erected and there was an attempt to push for Evansville.  You have to remember the format was very strong circa 1990 and heritage WYNG was playing "Three Times A Lady" by the Commodores along side of Garth.  WBKR purchased space on the Roberts Stadium sign, backed away from an Owensboro/Kentucky only image and became an area station.  The positioner was "The Country Superstation" and I don't remember specifics but WBKR had double digits in many dayparts in the metro and came close to overtaking WYNG until WKDQ went country. 

Though there is money from the Evansville metro, WBKR makes a chunk of change (read a top biller) from its Western Kentucky TSA.  Southwest Indiana is the cherry atop the billing sundae.

You're right. WDKS didn't go all Rhythmic until the first week of August. But this recent book reflected the Spring '07 period when WDKS made their first attempt to go Rhythmic back in Februrary but went back to Mainstream in March, so judging by their ratings spike, that early shift to Rhythmic might have spurred WDKS to return to that direction.

As for WEOA-AM, it does prove that Urban AM's can thrive, even in 2007.

KISS never went back to Mainstream.  They've been Rythmic since Feb and stayed there.  I can't remember the last time they played a "Pop" CHR song.  They don't play Daughtry, Carrie, Kelly, Hinder, etc...I've been told Booker and WABX had really good books, WOLF and WGBF had really bad books.  Can anyone elaborate?

Overall the South Central Group and LMA'd WEJK owned by son "JP" were down with two stations by .6 share and Regent had two stations down by 2.3... I was a win in the main grasp of overall market share as South Central did it with five stations (not including their own WEOA that they lease out)... Regent (not counting sold WYNG that was down by 2.7) had six show in the metro.... SCC up numbers were 3.7 and Regent's up numbers were 2.5...  The worst loss 12+ for SCC was .5 and for Regent was 1.2.....  Based on PUBLIC NUMBERS RELEASED HERE at Radio-Info, South Central won the metro numbers game (without WEOA) a 40.8 (with WEOA) 44.3 and Regent came out with 33.8.... Alot of smiling faces on 'The Hill' and the ghost of J.A.E. is looking down and smiling, with cigar in one hand and coffee cup in his other hand... I did get the 25-54 numbers   , BUT MUST NOT BE DETAILED HERE, BEYOND THE PUBLIC RELEASED NUMBERS!...

$1.5 million for a 0.6???  Is that really what Mr. Withers paid for???  I can't imagine his leash is very long for the new management/format/personnel of this one!!  He's too smart to lose that kind of agency money and it won't be long before he will be making major changes to begin recouping his "investment".  That signal is WAY too strong for a 0.6 from a 3.3 in ONE book!!   

Maybe Skipper will end up with 94.9 after all at a bargain price no less!!    You should give Mr. Withers a call to inquire!!

W'mole... I'll pass at this time.. The tower needs replaced, in a reasonable time (rusty and such) and the land lease is up in a few years... The family that owns that land will want much more than what is being paid for, at this time...It really needs some new exciter equipment and you really can't move the site, unless you; A...Downgrade the class, or B...Go directional and spend a boo-coo of cash to give it the shine, it needs.. I really thing Mr.Withers is looking at the Mt.Carmel, Princeton, Fairfield, Olney and Vincennes areas for clients... Evansville is a bonus, if he can pull some cash from there.... WRAY's success is "the local counties outside of the city", and yet they pull enough in the metro to get that 'extra' buy and agency stuff. Their 'county by county' numbers would stager you (non-metro)....
