Got to agree with the skipper on WRAY's ratings. 'Course, in the Vincennes area, the only choices for today's country are Hi-99 and WRAY....and Hi-99 doesn't do all that well (signal-wise) in the area.

Agreed that WRAY's county-by-county's are strong.  I just see problems with 94.9 ever remotely approaching that type of number given the fact WZDM is very strong with that format in Vincennes/Olney and Fairfield has its' own AC station in town.  I just think making 94.9 a "local" Mt. Carmel station will never pan out ratings wise (metro/county-by-county, whatever) and (more importantly) billing wise.  Maybe a return to "95 Rock" or Classic Rock would work seeing how those were the "glory" years in terms of ratings and billing?  One thing's for sure, Mr. Withers won't sit idly by and let this thing tank much further. His track record of success pretty much speaks for itself!

Well, the only reason that station had a little success with Classic Rock is because WABX wasn't on the air yet.  I don't think classic rock on 94.9 is going to work for Evansville anymore, considering one can choose ABX or KTG.  I can only think of two format openings in town that could be exploited, a full blown urban FM, or smooth jazz.

...a full blown urban FM, or smooth jazz...

Beard and Allen on an urban station?  Yeah, I'd give up my XM subscription to hear those two old crackers playing hip hop!

I don't think I suggested which air personalities to put on, did I?

If you expect to do anything with that rimshot, you have to program something unique in the market.

Nah, Kiss FM satisfies Evansville's Hip Hop void pretty much at this time.

I like the idea of a Urban AC/Smooth Jazz outlet though. Smiley

$1.5 million for a 0.6???  Is that really what Mr. Withers paid for???  I can't imagine his leash is very long for the new management/format/personnel of this one!!  He's too smart to lose that kind of agency money and it won't be long before he will be making major changes to begin recouping his "investment".  That signal is WAY too strong for a 0.6 from a 3.3 in ONE book!!  Shocked

Maybe Skipper will end up with 94.9 after all at a bargain price no less!!  Grin  You should give Mr. Withers a call to inquire!!

Mr Withers, smart?  Are you kidding?  The man is a idiot!

I disagree.

Any man who can vote in two state's Presidential elections, Illinois and Colorado, and not get nabbed must have something going for him.

...And he made sure my last 'bouncing' paycheck from Cape (where his Mom ran things) was covered with 'extra' bonus money, as I went back to school at WVC in Mt. Carmel.... Not all that bad, in '77...
