If your info on the demise of KLSD is correct I will sure miss them.  It has been the only reason I have listened to radio since they started.  Hopefully AAR will either find another radio home in this area or at least continue on the "internets".  I really should be used to good stations and good formats being destroyed to make way for garbage by now.  Reality is a tough sell.

2009 - 50 years in radio

The rating service must have waterproof markers for them to keep diaries.

I think the new People Meters are good to 100 feet under water. What do dolphins listen to, anyway ("The Fish" is too obvious) ?

Hacksaw already works for them.
Dan Patrick will be available on a new network show now that he has left ESPN.
And who knows the future with Rome. He is with CC owned Premiere.

I don't believe for a minute that 1360 will be sports, and won't until it happens. Why? Two words: The Surf.
We've been through this all before, (over and over and over again). Somebody leaks to key people that "well we're thinking of something like KXTA or FOX, or Star or Matchstix, etc" so that we can be teased with it, and all start talking about Sports, while the smirky people in the know, sit back and laugh while they launch a totally different format.

So I'm not going there this time, and don't any of you be fooled either. The truth hurts: WE HAVE NO IDEA what they will do with 1360 on Thursday (or Tuesday, or whenever), excpet BJ, or DoubleBuckKPLN or whatever the hex his name is, who like to come on here, and JACKTM us all around so they can sit back and feel smarter than the rest of us.

Sorry if I sound bitter, I'm not, but we've been burned so many times on this board. For all we know, the faceless plants can talk up sports, and the next day it's Oldies 101, KGB simulcasting Polka Classics on 1360.  So don't fall for it, we just don't know.
1360 isn't going Sports, unless it actually happens.

I just read that KNX is going back to all news. Maybe CC San Diego will get smart (oops, I'm sorry, only CC San Antonio is allowed to get smart) and make AM 1360 into all news. It seems like all-sports radio doesn't have such a great track record in San Diego unlike back East where really hot muggy summers (yeah real heat and humidity not the mild stuff we whine about) and cold icy winters force the denizens to spend most of the year cooped up inside their basement rec rooms, cozy in their Red Wings and Knicks jerseys, watching any and all sports on the big screen TV and in between games calling sports radio to gripe about team owners and managers. I realized in my recent four years of exile in Kansas City that those folks eat and breathe sports in a way that could never be understood by anyway who's spent all their life in Southern California. Here we only get excited in those rare years when the Padres or Chargers do something exciting and it's been so many years since San Diego State did anything notable on a playing field that we long ago stopped carrying about local college sports. Heck we no longer even mind that the Sports Arena has no sports.

All news...KOGO tried unsuccessfully many years ago, so did 1360 way back when as KCNN.  I have seen nothing on the boards about Clear Channel dropping AAR from KTLK or KQKE but those stations appear to have been underperforming as well, and the LA board is rife with rumors concerning a Clear Channel station there thats going to flip, but KTLK has not been one of those mentioned, except by me several months ago and the regulars blew it off.  Anyway, a venture into the ever expanding Latin market does not seem out of the realm of possibility.
