I have noticed that a new station has started on the cape (Provincetown)----DUNES 102.3
I do not know if they are using True Oldies or their own library but the music is a big improvement
over what is going on WODS. The reception is better than I thought it would be.(it comes in quite
well in Plymouth.) Not a bad listen at all.

I just found out ...... They are using Oldies radio. -It`s an on-line format.
Still a much better play list than `ODS.

i listened to them a lot two weekends ago (while out on the cape). I think one airshift on Sunday was live - the rest sounded voicetracked. Contest was $1000 cash - sort of. Didn't listen Monday to find out how to win.
Not a connoisseur of oldies, i liked the 60's based rock, couldn't discern whether or not Oldies 103.3 is better or not. Just interested to see if a brand new 300 watt signal in a remote area like Truro can make any money. Personally, i'd have gone with AAA out there. Play lots of Patty Larkin. WMVY's signal doesn't make it that far up the Cape, and it seems like the kind of format that would be readily embraced by the artsy, crunchy, hippie, creative counterculture types that have populated that part of the Cape. P-Town, Truro and Wellfleet don't seem like the types of communities that have been itchin' for more oldies. Listening in Eastham, there was a lot of static, not a very strong signal that far down.

They're airing the nationwide ABC "Oldies Radio" format. I'm not sure how much of that is live or voicetracked, but some of it is live, for sure. |

Is it a satellite feed? Or music provided on disc, played in house? I remember hearing lots of songs ending abruptly, short pause before next element began playing. Wasn't too tight, levels were off - sometimes the "jock" got buried under song intros. Also heard huge national clients like Wal Mart. Makes sense if ABC provides the programming - in exchange for avails. |

Hey, don't you be dissin' 'ODS !!!!! They got Dale, Karen, JJ... etc. Music is only 50% of a station, the other half is the voices. And don't even try comparing WODS to some piped in ABC format. |

Hey, don't you be dissin' 'ODS !!!!! They got Dale, Karen, JJ... etc. Music is only 50% of a station, the other half is the voices. And don't even try comparing WODS to some piped in ABC format. OK, then WODS is half-good. Aside from classic AT40 shows and lost 45s, WODS is sounding too much like an A/C station these days. Too much emphasis on James Taylor, Billy Joel, etc. and not enough Motown or British Invasion hits. |

They may still be working things out on when the local IDs are supposed to play, that's probably what's supposed to fill those gaps. |

Hey I`m with you on the jocks---- no complaint what so ever. It`s just the play list........not deep enough and very pragmatic. |
