I heard that management at 94.1 suspended Bob of "Bob and Leslie" morning show last week (without pay) for saying "Thank God (something, something)" on the air.  It had something to do with the kids going back to school.  Apparently that was the name of a promotion they did last year and no one informed Bob the name had changed.  He's back on this week, though.  I'm not a PD, so I don't know if that's a big FCC no-no, but doesn't sound too terrible to me.  As usual, sounds like their "punishment" was overboard for the crime.  I also heard that Bob just bought a house...renting might have been a better option.   Undecided  Any of you PD's know if saying "Thank God" is a problem?

I think the real issue is that managment did not think that the 45+ audience of an Oldies station would want to hear the Lord's name taken in vain ... I heard he was told not to do it after complaints and he took it upon himself to VT a whole weekend using God, Lord, JC ... whatever related to our good Lord ... just to prove the point that he could do whatever he wanted to ... just because of that if I was his PD I would have canned him .  Wishy Washy managemnt let bob Campbell keep his job when they had a perfect out to get a decent Oldies targeted morning show..... what a shame they did not take advantage.

And didn't they just have they're highest morning ratings ever? I thought Campbell was the PD?

He IS the PD.  This is almost like somebody started a thread about themselves, but this one was started by maskman and not by Bob C, right?

Wow.  That is an injustice (wink).  Those suspension publicity stunts only work on morning shows that people WANT to hear.

Well, if he was warned and did it anyway...you're probably right.  I think I'd have fired him for that.  And, yes, he is the "supposed" PD.  And, I didn't actually see their AM drive ratings, but I did hear that they weren't as good as the other two dayparts.

I can't speak to the first part of the previous post, but I think the second part describes the ratings for all but 2 or 3 of the morning shows in the market. The station overall is at historic ratings highs isn't it? And the only morning shows in the market to traditionally outperform the rest of the day are KRR and KZL, occasionally QMG. Mag and Simon morning shows trail the rest of the day, so does TQR's I believe. And MAG's guy has been there for a couple hundred years.
Pretty much the same story in Raleigh, with G-105 outperforming and maybe only a couple others.

The highest morning ratings ever were when I was there. By the way, after I did bought a house there (rented for 14 months) - thats when they fired me....Wished I would have said Thank God something something

Doesn't take much to beat a 1.6 or was it 1.8!
