Beaumont, it's magically deflected. Is that like being magically delicious? I think they've been ramping up power at times or something. One check I made, 1560 had a listenable (although not 50kw) signal. Later in the afternoon, KILE was a no-show. I have yet to hear the Ken Hoffman show, and that's the one I'm most intrigued by. Hadn't heard Hoffman on the air since his days doing mornings with the Zoo at 93Q. Has he brought Mr. Leonard on his show yet? I read where he said he would.

I listened to Hoffman for about an hour on Thursday.   Not bad at all.  I love his sense of humor.  He does much better (as most of us do) when he has someone to bounce his ideas off of.  Not sure who was in the studio with him yesterday, but it was entertaining.  No Mr. Leonard, sorry.

As for the signal.  I thought it sounded good except for the nasty hum in the background.  Sounded like a grounding issue to me...like you get on a PA system when something isn't grounded right.  Other than that it was quite listenable.

At 2:24 this morning, it was very low power. I flipped to 1480 and it was fighting whatever else is on 1480 elsewhere. I looked at the 1560 The Game website and I like the way it looks and navigates as well. Once they get the power issue resolved, I hope they will do well. Will the difference be that they can do better without a huge corporate overlord? Time will tell.

I listened to Hoffman the last couple of days and he was much better than that shakey first day. Overall, their lineup is terrific. Every host is informative and entertaining and brings that local swagger that stations used to carry before the homogenization of radio.  It's great to hear.

As for the signal, they must still be having problems powering up to 50K watts. I couldn't really pick them up anywhere from West U to Shepherd & I-10 or anywhere along 610 this morning. It was actually worse than the first day. Hopefully, they'll work it out today. This signal problem is the only thing standing in the way of their eventual success.

Still appears to be on the old 800 watt site early Friday afternoon.  So much for the promises of being at full power today.

I want KGOW to have the chance to succeed.  But at this rate, they are going to be a short-lived fiasco, on the level of such misfires as KKHU, KCRR, KTUS, KidStar 980, KPHD, as well as a long list of brokered programming on various stations.

David Barron says they started using the Rosharon transmitter Thursday but only 10,000 watts instead of the possible 50,000 watts.

I heard people complaining about the signal today.  Said Friday was the worst day yet.

I agree, yesterday was up and down.  Most of the day you could not pick it up clearly anywhere.  I was in my truck most of the day from Sugarland to Downtown.  By mid afternoon the signal was coming in loud and clear along 59 from The Grand Parkway to Loop 610, but around the loop to I-10 the signal faded.  This morning it's touch and go in West U.  It doesn't sound like they are at 50W full power as promised.  I hope they get this problem fixed fast or it could be a disaster for them.  They have great programming and they already have a stable of advertisers on board.

Today the station was static free around Pecan Grove Plantation, but as I headed into Richmond proper, the station was almost impossible to listen to.  So far a good product, but one must question the stations long run possibilities when GM Richard Topper has been talking with his old group about the possibility of returning there.

Honestly I don't know what is going on, 1480 is like this now day and night.  I thought they were a Spanish station?  Seems now, one signal is in english the other in vietnamese and you can basically understand none of it.  Neither seems to be a 1560 simulcast.  Very odd.

Still a pathetic signal for 1560 here in Clear Lake.
