Author Topic: BRW reports KISS FM moving  (Read 943 times)

I always thought that it was odd that sister station 94.5 was across the street on Cabot rd, while Kiss 108 and AM 1400 were still next to the T station. I figured Jamn would have been in with Kiss, but now BRW reports KISS is moving out of the building they have been in since moby dick was a minnow to Cabot Rd.

It's not like Kiss can sell the building.... the AM tower for 1400 is in the back yard, to say nothing of the recent move of 1090 WILD onto the same tower. It is so close to the river that nothing can really be done with the existing building that isn't going to cost a zillion dollars to comply with EPA, and state regulations ... building in a flood plain, 100 feet of BVW, etc.

What am I missing here? What is the motive? Is CC spinning off 1400 from their Boston operation?

I heard that the building will be demolished to make way for an additional "T" parking lot.  Tower will remain.
Wow SOOO many good times in that building (especially before they remodeled it) ... gawd if only the old walls could talk!
99 Revere Beach Parkway, may you rest in peace. 'sniff.'

I wonder if Steve Riggs is gonna have a fire sale of some of the old equipment, if any.

You mean 1430? The closest 1400 is WLLH (//WAMG) Lowell.

I stand corrected  1430 is what I meant. I should have known better since I get to listen to 1430 everytime I pick up the land line in our office next door.

I'm sure Steve is either groaning or cackling over any speculation here that involves his name.   Roll Eyes

Last time I was in the KISS building I didn't see very much "old" gear.  Memory's kinda rusty, but I think even a lot of the mix boards were pretty recent upgrades.  The studios themselves, however, are indeed very old.  And pretty small, too - it's not very comfy to fit more than one DJ and two guests in the main air studio.  Very well-built, though...EXTREMELY well built.  Of course, with a giant source of RFI about 50ft away, they kinda had to be.   Grin

But that is such a prime location, right next to the Bickford's where the psycho customer stalked and killed the waitress.  And how could you possibly give up a spot on the Orange line?  Shocked  Grin

Cabot Road is just another few steps away walking up what was up until recently "Corporation Way" now known as some BS name trying to make it sound like its on the river when the street is between a dirty creek and the train tracks.

Bickfords....then Krispy Kreme (yuk) now Kelly's ( super yuk)

the place was better when there was a fruit stand and a drive in there.

Place has turned into yuppy city over there.

Even on night pattern?
