Great points all around on this.  Several rock stations around the country have tried to run NFL games (the demos, NFL, and Rock seem to make sense.).  And several have really gotten KILLED running them too.

I think KBSG's potential upside with this, bringing in new listeners, outweighs the potential risks, (yes, a 2-8 start would be a disaster for a station knotted up with 6 hours of football every Sunday for the next 6 or 7 weeks.)

The south sound crowd for the Seachickens is HUGE.  If you want some of that demo (and I'm sure KBSG does), they're in the right place.

KBSG might get a nice Sunday bump in an otherwise low cume time slot, but I've yet to see a station convert that sports listenership into P1's. As soon as the game's over, they're gone! KISW was a much better fit and the Hawks did little to help them out.

In fact, KIRO will have a 3-hour pregame show for the Seahawks beginning in 2008. An FM flagship cannot do a 3-hour pregame without blowing out their ratings.

here in indianapolis since 1998 the former home of the colts WFBQ dedicated 9 hours of game day to Colts coverage. which since has continued with the colts move back to WIBC/WLHK-FM with 9 hours of game day coverage. and i think WDVE in pittsburgh gives up a bunch of its Steelers game day from its rock format for Steelers football. and probly other NFL Teams with FM Flagships gives up at least 7 hours or more of gameday coverage to there teams
