Lisa screwed this guy over!  I think Craig would have done a better job than Monti currently is at Movin.  I'm not impressed with her at all.

From: csindy dot com

Popular local radio DJ

After seven years of radio work in Colorado Springs, Craig Coffey (formerly of KVUU-FM My 99.9's Coffey in the Morning), packed his bags and headed to Seattle last summer, alongside his wife and pets.

"I was in the running for an afternoon-drive position up here," Coffey says. "But in radio, it takes a long time for things to happen. That's good and bad."

It's good because it turns out that in the meantime, another position opened up — one during the higher-profile morning drive slot. And it's bad because, even though Coffey was offered the slot, he knew he'd have to wait until January to start. [EDIT]

And then came another curveball. Coffey's contact at the radio station he had hoped to work for moved down to Portland, Ore. And with her, left all of the promises she had made.

At something of a crossroads, Coffey began working fill-in shifts at a Seattle-based Entercom radio station. Turns out it was a good idea. After biding his time on KKWF-FM 100.7 The Wolf, Coffey's boss let him in on a little secret: He was moving to San Francisco to open a recently reformatted station there. And he wanted Coffey to come along with him to be his morning jock.

So last week, Coffey returned to the morning drive — for a two-week trial run — in San Francisco on a station he says is similar in format to local CKTY-FM Cat Country 95.1, "only more in-your-face."

[EDIT]

"San Francisco's a great city," he says. "And if the morning thing doesn't work out, I'll be doing another position for them." — PF

This is old news (article) from when the Wolf/SF launched with jocks.  Coffey did mornings with Sue Hall and the rest of the full time line-up.  They eventually put local established people in place, and then he returned back to Seattle's Wolf.  I know he's still looking up here for something to work out.  I've seen his numbers...he's solid...sounds good!  Good luck!!

Huh?   How did Lisa "screw" Coffey over?   Reads to me the guy was a victim of circumstance.

That's another way you can put it, but I like the term 'screwed' a bit more. Cause he really was screwed, be it by Lisa or Movin.  He was pretty much promised the afternoon gig at Movin, then she moved and away went that promise.  Sucks.  Good luck Craig, you are a great talent man.

But yeah, this is a pretty old article.  I found it interesting when I came across it yesterday.

I'm not a radio insider. And I'm not a genius. But it's my feeling that anyone who moves across the country because they were "pretty much promised" something is (a) optimistic at an unhealthy level and/or (b) crazy. Sounds to me like it was more a matter of someone thinking something was much more of a sure thing than it ever was.

WOW!  I'm flattered.  I have made the timeless pages of Radio-Info, and I will say that, yes, I am a little crazy.  My wife would say crazy for sure, and then some.  In all fairness to those involved in the article quoted (and this board), there were more details & circumstances to the situation with Movin and the Wolf/SF from both sides.  Yes it does "suck" that those opps didn't work out, but being the optomistic soul that I am, I continue to search until the right opp presents itself.

Thank you for those that have supported me on this board, so far. (LOL) I'll take all the pub that I can get, and if you can hire me, then reach out!!!

Again, keep posting.  I'm an only child.  I love the attention!

Peace & Respect...

even if lisa almost promised the job to craig, once she left the new pd was able to make any decision he wanted. he decided he wasnt the fit for mornings at movin....who cares?! he's the pd!

plus if lisa thought he was good enough, why isn't he doing mornings in portland? That job has been posted for months.
