It's dumb and not something I would subject my fine tuned radio station to for 13 hours on a weekday.

Since it's only a 13 hour stunt, since the station is likely to hype the stunt and the NBC show, and since the show fits the station's demos, I doubt this is a dumb move.

I know that this article is true. Chuck-FM is a new format playing nothing but country music. This is going to be the first time since New York City does not have a country station, because the last station was back in 1996 when WYNY flipped from country to dance as WKTU at 103.5.

I guess that this was taken from that article about when the format is going to effect September 24th, that's next Monday. And yes, that is a 13-hour promotional stunt for an NBC takeover.

I've never listened to country music in New York City since the WHN and WYNY days. But up in the Hudson Valley north of NYC, WRWD and "The Wolf" plays the same country music, but if it's true, maybe Z-100 should happen sooner or later. Will find out what happens next.

Don't care.  In an industry where the entire image of a major market station is carefully crafted, I as a programmer am not going to blow that up to promote an NBC show in that way.

If New Line Cinema/Time Warner came to Z and wanted to take over the station to play oldies to promote Hairspray for the day... and turn the station into the radio version of the Corny Collins Show... would you do it?

No.

Radio should team with clients, but not to the point where it whores out its product or image, it's lifeblood... even if it is for a day.  With so many other choices, you can't afford to make any impression you are something other than familiar.... especially when you are successful.

Z-100 is currently the number one ranked station in the market overall. Why on earth would you in any way feel they would want to flip to (gasp!) Country??

I'm not really sure, this is according to what the article says that it is a 13-hour stunt from 6:00 AM until 7:00 PM. That is kind of a CC promotional event that is going to take place in celebration of the two new shows on NBC.

As for country, ain't going to happen! Sorry, I'm just kidding!

Z-100 is now #1 beating out of WLTW of the former #1 station in NYC. I really apologize for my concerns about country, ain't going to work in NYC.

The article is true, but the music will be CHR with the CHUCK-FM positioners and slogans (and the actors of the show doing little "breaks") instead of the regular Z-100 formatics.

I was only kidding, Z-100 is not going country, it's still top 40, but it's #1. But I hope this should bring back the slogan as "New York's #1 Hit Music Station" back to the top in the next Summer Arbitrons.
