It looks more and more as if Don Imus will have a new home, not only at WABC in New York, but the other ABC/Citadel O&O radio stations as well, come early December.  So for KABC, it most likely means Peter Tilden will lose two hours of his show, Doug McIntyre will be offered another time slot or gone altogether.  And if the deal with the Dodgers gets finalized, you're going to be hearing a LOT less of Larry Elder and Al Rantel come 08.  Looks like KFI's numbers will only get bigger next year.

Assuming of course, that neither the Dodgers or Imus have an audience.

We can be assured that Imus will not have an audience and the Dodgers have not scared off KFI yet. There is so much morning competition already on the air here a thousand time better than Imus that I seriously doubt that KABC would dump McIntyre for him.

In your humble opinion.

Where has Imus made a ratings impact outside NY, DC, and possibly Boston? Any major market outside the eastern time zone?

Imus flat out is an NY product. The show won't work in LA. However what has
Doug Mcintrye done. As far as I've seen nothing. He's simply not LA morning talent.
At KFI he would be fortunate to do a weekened shift. KABC needs a competitive
morning show. I would start there to rebuild that mess.

Peter Tilden is live 11 PM to 2 AM. His show then repeats. No matter what happens - if anything - he would not lose 1 second of his show.

Citidel is cheap. Whatever is cheapest to fill their airwaves they'll do. Doug Mcintyre nor Don Imus will ever get close to beating Bill Handel..

Doug Mcintyre has incredible knowledge on many subjects but needs a better support staff both on and off the air.

Considering who is in charge at KABC it is hard to believe their ratings aren't even lower.

Not a good comparison, Imus hasn't had the opportunity to perform on a top tier station like KABC,
besides we're ALREADY talking about him!!!!  Hmmm.

Sorry to disagree. Good programming finds an audience. There's no track record outside NY and possibly one or two other east coast markets to warrant taking that kind of risk in morning drive. And by the way...KABC currently ranks 15th in the market (with something like 65% of their audience 55+); does that fit in your definition of "top tier"?
