Insane move to fire Baker. Berry has 2 years to get his mayoral gig in swing ( White will be term-limited out). During this time, his name and sometimes face will be in the public view. His dismissal of the "name and voice" of both stations, i.e Baker, leaves Berry as the chosen one. His motives are ALL political. His lesson plan taken directly from State Senator Dan Patrick. Thanks a bunch for destroying two good stations and some good talk hosts all for personal greed and gain. His ship will sink fast. I've already shut off both stations and go 700 AM till 11 am, and 1070 AM . Go to the 950 website. I thought I was through my teenage years! What a joke.

What a shame.  I liked Chris when you actually could hear his show instead of news and traffic every 7 min. followed by an extensive commercial break.  CC screwed up his show when they moved him from 950 over to 740 a few years ago.  I think he lost a lot of listeners due to the interruptions.

Love him or hate him...Baker worked himself to the bone to put on the best radio show that he could.
I'm so very lucky to have been a part of his show for almost 3 years.  I know many won't listen to 740 due to the change.  However, I want to thank everyone VERY MUCH for listening and making us part of your day....even if it was only here and there.
Watch out for debris and keep rockin out there!
Thank you, again~Eddie Barton

What we have gained here.
1. Ms. Hunt is a has been
2. cc Houston Cluster on verge of collapse
3. A unanimous opinion on this board on the demise of the Bakker show
4. How messed up a cluster can get without one of us at the helm.(knowlege)
5. Who we wont be voting for in 2 years for mayor.
6.Martiney may never work in radio again.

I am sure there is more!

I LOVED people you'll never hang out with.  I am not a pro, but just a huge fan.  I only know what I liked and listened to.  I have been, told too many times, I don't reflect the views of the collective listening audience.  When they dumped Glenn Beck, I heard, Houston didn't listen to him ( I did); When they dumped Pat Gray I heard the same thing.  I'm still here looking for the things I want to listen to, but they don't listen to me.......  The suits don't give a rat's ass what I want to hear.  What, exactly, do they care about?

Program directors know that programming changes will create unrest among some listeners. But they also know that eventually everyone will get over it and move on and the new programming will eventually find its own, and new audience.

A suggestion-If there is a radio talk show host that you have a strong opinion about (positive or negative) and you want your opinion to be heard by someone who really matters, contact the advertisers whose ads air during that show. Contact all the advertisers on that station. Tell them what you think. Call the advertisers and tell them you would like to send an email to the president of the company. Then send a polite email epressing your opinion.

It takes time to do this, but if everyone who is bitching about the cancellation of Chris Baker's radio show would email just one of his advertisers, heck, they may rally and sponsor his show on another, non CC, station.

Remember, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.
