Is there any interest in syndicating local shows from 1530HOMER in Cincinnati or WNKR in Cleveland? Perhaps throwing in a local Columbus show

Why would you want to syndicate local programming from other markets in to Columbus? How could a sales staff sell that with a straight face? This is Columbus not Lima.

Hell, why isnt Good Karma floating around?  He could purchase WRFD-AM from Salem and the old WVKO combo and turn it into ESPN Columbus with 880 being the flagship and ESPN 2 on the new AM.  Keep WVKO-FM Spanish, its actually doing okay for this market and that awful signal.

Salem won't sell, and WBNS (1460 The Fan) carries ESPN already.

I think one thing about WVKO when they were urban that hurt them a lot, was there was a time for a year or two when the audio was so bad it sounded like they were broadcasting from a third world country from a pay phone, not to mention going off the air and being off for hours at a time. Also, when you have a talk show host critizing a newscaster on the air, people don't want to hear that. I for one think that if WVKO were programed right back then, they could have kept more of their listeners. As far as sports goes, I wonder what would happen if the Indians were on VKO? They used to be in the early 60's.

What ever they do, I hope they do well, and also hope their remote phoneline audio is temporary.

Hmm,

Ed Schultz criticized Hannity and he is on over 100 stations.

Yeah, because Salem is looking to unload its most profitable station...no way Salem sells WRFD...ever.

1) It is paid for (years ago)
2) Every minute of every day is paid for with program sponsorships and commercials.
3) Sun up to Sun down...minimal staffing.

WRFD is a cash cow among cash cow's in a market the size of Columbus.

I'm told that WVKO will flip to Talk/Sports on Monday (12/3).
