Sports,

Local or bird? Tell us more!!!!

I'd bet mostly bird, with a local here or there and coverage of local high school sports. That makes sense. I don't see any justification for spending the outrageous money that would be neccessary to be "all local".

Dose this mean that Stephanie Miller And Big Eddy will make an return appearance to
the Columbus Airwaves? There has been a group of people diligently gathering petitions for their
return to the Columbus airways for almost a year.

I'm told that WVKO will flip to Talk/Sports on Monday (12/3).

The WVKO manager said that they may not make it on the air with the new format by 12-3.

All I have is second-hand knowledge, but I was told they were shooting for Monday. We'll see if it happens....

I just got an email from ProgressOhio.org saying WVKO would be a progressive talk station as of 6am 12/3 AND they are soliciting donations to "keep them on the air" with a special advertising fund.

Good for both us and them.  Good for them because it was an obvious hole in the market they could fill (sure beats having another dead signal with more preachers on the air).  Good for us because maybe we won't have to listen to Sean whine about the lack of pinko radio in this market anymore.  But wait a minute ....... I guess now we have to listen to Sean tell us how WVKO's ultimate 1.2 rating in reality means a great groundswell of public support for pinko radio!

About 15 years ago, Robb Case used to air a slate of kook-fringe (I would almost call them "militia men") syndicated talk shows on the then 1540 AM in Circleville.  I particularly remember one conspiracy theory show I used to listen to in the summer while doing yard work -- it was a real hoot!  I think one of those guys ended up in jail for securities fraud.  I'm wondering if any of those shows are still on and whether they might work on WVKO as counter-programming.

Radioboy989,

Well a 1.2 share is a lot better than the recent ratings for WYTS and WTDA. WTDA is conservitive talk (with the exception of Bob and Tom) They can't seem to surpass a 1.6 share. While WYTS have fallen is not listed in the Fall Phase Book One of 2007. When WYTS was WTPG it gotten ratings unlike the so called ratings for WYTS (as in whites) Only radio. With WVKO broadcasting a 3200 watts daytime and it will be better run than WYTS.

I just remembered the name of one of those shows ....... the Chuck Harter Show.  He and his callers used to be way out there with their conspiracy theories.  A hoot to listen to.
