There were cutbacks at Cox yesterday. Chris Krok and his producer were let go, and the word is that Herman Cain will take 7-10pm, and Savage will be bumped to 10p-1a.

I understand that B 98.5 FM's traffic guy Jason Durden was also let go. Those are the only ones I know of.

So I guess Herman is doing the show for free?  Sounds like a CC station.

That sucks.  I like Herman, but nobody in the city was doing a show quite like Chris.   There have been so many radio changes over the past few years and this is one of the worst.

edit... they should have put Krok at 7-10pm and looney Savage afterwards.

Well, I heard Neil Boortz state yesterday that he wants to be retired in five years, and then read a laundry list of other places he would rather be than a studio daily.

With Boortz retiring in the future, and Clark Howard possiblity running for Mayor, what's WSB (and Cox for the syndicated side) future without Boortz and Howard?

Never cared for Krok's show but D,JD.....Bring a guy here and dump him less than 2 years later.

Wish they would bring back Royal but I wonder if he even wants to do a show like that again.

I guess when Jordan Graye started working at the sister station under an alias, warning bells should have went off.

First Christy Henry was fired from B98.5, now WSB-AM suffers. Although I never liked Krok or his views, I don't like to see him or anyone else out on the street.

Oddly enough, B98.5 overnight DJ Larry Lane is still there. You would figure overnight positions would be the first to go.

I thought Cox was printing money with their flagship cluster. I wonder if the tanking of the subprime loan market and high gas prices has anything to do with this. (People are spending less, which means advertisers are making less money, which generally means that advertisers aren't buying as many ads as they have been).

This is occuring at Christmas, which is not a good time of year for anyone to lose a job (Remember last year at CC with 94.9).

It makes you wonder if Clear Channel secretly bought Cox?

He may be the only person in the building for the whole cluster overnights.

What's strange is that when C.C. does this they get absolutely slammed on this board, even though we all know that C.C Atlanta was (is) doing it for cost cutting because their ratings are in the tank. What reason does Cox have? WSB is kicking butt as usual, and since C.C. shoved Lite over to 96.7, B98.5 is voted #1 (again). I don't understand it. My gosh, to cut cost because you're not performing is one thing, but to can people, right at the Holidays when your company is raking it in...shameful!!!

I never liked Krok, I thought his voice sucked and his topics sucked harder.  I'd LOVE to hear Royal Marshall in that spot.  Cain?  Meh.

Also, from the horse's mouth; no bonuses at WSB-AM this Christmas. The reason... Scrooge is upset that V-103 is killing the 50,000 watt blowtorch in the ratings.
