I'm just thinking of the recent history of Cincinnati radio stations playing continuous Christmas music on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  In the late 1950's, WCKY-1530 AM- aired what they called "24 hours of Christmas" with Christmas music from 6 P.M. on Christmas Eve to 6 P.M. on Christmas Day.  I never  understood why they stopped at 6 P.M. on that day.  The station later expanded to playing the music until Midnight.  Later on, as I recall, they began playing the music at Noon on Christmas Eve, making it 36 straight hours.  At one time, they took out a full-page ad in the Cincinnati newspaper to list all of the songs that would be played.  Interestingly enough, some of the recordings played during those hours were not Christmas songs.  I never understood that either.

Did anyone in the area (besides possibly WDJO) carry Dusty's show this year?

WMKV had one of his, but it was a different show than the one aired on WDJO.

Around 1970, stations played Christmas music as late as Jan 1. In particular, I remember 106.5 just north of Dayton playing full time Christmas music until New Years weekend. How the times have changed...

When I started in radio in 1967, most broadcast equipment used tube technology, all recorded music was played from records on a turntable by live DJ's, there was no satellite delivery...and radio was fun.
