Since I know a good many of you are Walton & Johnson faithfuls; I thought I'd let you know that their ratings look very good. In the latest (December) PPM data KPRC ranks 9th in morning drive for Adults 25-54. I believe KPRC was ranked 32nd prior to W&J's arrival.
I still think Mancow is more entertaining.
Berry may not be so dumb after all.
Michael Berry is dumb by no means. Inexperienced yes, but certainly not dumb. I was skeptical of this whole "Radio Mojo" format at first, and still think it needs some improvements but so far it has been successful. Where Mr. Berry shows his inexperience is with stations like KBME. Fox Sports is horrendous at best, and battling against 3 other sports talkers is not helping 790's cause at all. Mr. Berry, Look at your calls on 790. BME stands for "Best Music Ever". That's where 790 needs to place it's future. Give Houston back the Oldies that KLDE/KHTC abandoned, mixed with some Standards that can't be found anywhere since Great Radio Houston went AWOL, and watch as another one of the stations under your watchful eye soars to new heights.

Hey purple dude,
CC tried that music on the AM dial thing. Gave it really really hard try. Didn't work. Hence - sports. When ESPN came on board, there was only 1 other sports station. In actuality, there is STILL only 1 other sports station - that'd be 610. that low powered, transistor, cb radio that Lance and John are on sure doesn't qualify, and FM sports - riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Thanks, Dick, for the words of wisdom. I'll assume that Dick Nixon isn't your real name. But I'm curious why you chose that? Hmmm.
Then again, my mama didn't look down in the maternity ward and call me Radio Rat, so I can't talk. But I am one. I love radio, and always will. I simply love it, through and through, and I think some of the people on this board are too close to it, and want to keep everyone else out. Well, that is what almost killed radio. The "insiders" are a group of angry, underemployed types who hate the listeners, advertisers, salesmen, etc. Radio is a democratic medium to be enjoyed by all.
As for the original post: I met Berry several times at events. I must admit he's charming. The dude is smooth, and smart as hell. You can't deny him that. Whether he succeeds in radio is yet to be seen, but damn he's good one on one. And his Walton and Johnson decision seems to be wise. I looked at Hannity and Rush today and he was on par with them as well.
I dealt with Chris Baker twice. Let me tell you: turd. Bad attitude, prima donna, no count. I didn't like him at all. Not a nice guy. Glad he's gone. He was a bad apple. I spoke to a friend who used to do lives with him. Trust me, bad guy.
As for Walton and Johnson, I'll say it again: I don't like them, but lots of folks do. And the numbers speak for themselves. They are scoring well in ratings. I have a friend who is about to bet the bank in advertising bucks that they will make him money. I'll report back.

You are misinformed. The majority of radio people LOVE the listeners, which is why they become angry when they feel the listeners' needs and wants are not being served.

Boy do I have to agree with this comment. During my career I was accused of sometimes being not a nice guy. It's not that I was not nice. I was UNHAPPY! It was usually over who I had to work with or how management was piling up the commercials. The CUME would rise and the TSL would tumble and the jocks would take the heat for "talking too much." Frustrating and maddening. So I suspect Chris Baker may have been "not nice" because of who he had to work with or what was going on behind the scenes. It's sometimes hard not to wear your emotions on your sleeve when that's how you make your living.

Low power? I live 120 miles away and pick it up better than KTRH. There is even a report on this board about people living in Michigan picking it up. I am not saying I like 1560 or think they will survive but you claiming they are low power shows you are either out on a smear campaign or do not know what you are talking about. I still stand by my earlier statement concerning you working for KILT. You obviously have some problem with John and Lance. Remember when you had this breaking news? "LANCE ZERLEIN IS IN AT ESPN 790 - getting paid 240K+ he'll apparently be teamed with Kenny Hand - he posted on his blog at chron.com but his lawyer told him to take it down."

What? 50k is a reference to 50,000 watts so thanks for confirming you know nothing. Look man I am not here to argue but a quick look at your post history shows you are here to stir up problems. There is nothing wrong with that. Sometimes I roll a few up and go mess with Phoenix Suns fans. You obviously have an agenda and I am just pointing that out.
