"Here is the facts: Spiels consistantly pulls 10+ numbers with men 25-54 from noon-2p in spring, summer, winter and fall. Cut and dried. "

If that's so, why did 1460 make the change they just recently made?
Also, I'm sorry but I just don't see this talent you are talking about with Ricordatti.  He's way too fake in his delivery and he too seems to be stuck on himself.....just like all sports radio jocks.

Pick up today's The Other Paper for an amusing assessment of the new "Big Show" in the Media Morsels section.  Needless to say, it was not flattering to Hooley, Herbie and Spielman

If you really want to rip on The Fan, how about starting with the update anchors? That's where you should start. As far as the Other paper article, I haven't had an opportunity to read it yet, however, consider the source. I don't like Brussel Sprouts. I don't like them so much, I can't even spell them properly. To that point, if I were to write an article about them, how do you think that article would read? Look, sports radio is a subjective medium. You either like the guys on the show or you don't. All I'm saying is between Hooley, Herbie, and Spiels, you have 3 Heisman voters, 3 ESPN Network/dot com employees that time and time again get their contracts renewed, and 3 graduates of THE Ohio State University. Gee, If I were a boss at that station, I'd want those guys on the air as well.

I've heard just about all the update anchors and they all sound fine to me.  Actually the updates are better than the shows.  Tony Kastricone (sp) is one of the best guys 1460 has, but since he's still pretty young and also since he graduated from OU and not THE OSU, he's left doing mop up duty instead of the higher profile shows.  I'd take him anchoring the mid-day show over Ricordatti and the Big Show over Hooley any day!  His voice quality and professionalism is head and shoulders above everyone else at that station.

I should have been more specific about the update anchors. I agree, Castricone is good at updates. His knowledge of sports outside of Buckeye football and college hoops is VERY limited, so doing a show is not his bag. He's serviceable in a pinch though. Torgerson is also very good at updates and hearing him with Ricordati has been a breath of fresh air. The other anchors are not fit for a college station. They suck. So I guess what I should have said was, 2 are good and the other 2 plus the fill-in hack need to be sent down to Lima. Paul is a non-factor as he is busy with other stuff most of the time.

That's all fine and good but when they spend a good portion of their show talking about American Idol instead of sports, it kind of defeats the purpose of having a Sports Talk show.

Or in today's case talking about Chinese food.
From what I've heard from this Torgerson character he's just as bad as Riccordatti.

I read in the paper yesterday that Herbstreit is moving to Connecticut.

Bob Hunter's "Rumblings" says his house is on the market for $3.7 million!
