English Nick in serious accident!
« on: January 14, 2008, 12:07:01 PM »

Hey everyone,

Most of you know English Nick. He did many years at 96rock with us, and has recently been with 99x.

My mate drives around in a Mini Cooper - ( I know) - well last night he was in a serious accident. He broke his hip, and the injuries require surgery this week. Nick didn't have insurance so his home away from home, The 10 High in the Highlands, will be holding benefits to help him raise money to cover medical expenses.

If you're not aware, he's been hosting Metalsome Mondays for years. It's a live band, and you get to get on stage and sing karaoke style with them. It's a blast!!!

Tomorrow night is the first benefit. It will be every Sunday and Tuesday for the rest of January and into February.

Help us help our little English buddy!!!

Thanks!

Just curious.....did the person who hit him not have insurance? They should be responsible for his medical bills if they had insurance.
If the accident was his fault and he was still paying for the Mini Cooper then he should have been required to carry full coverage insurance which usually includes medical.
If he was driving with no insurance then he has himself to thank for his "problem."

Regardless of fault, auto insurance does not help you in the short term. Without health insurance, you are responsible for all medical bills until the claim is fully settled and you can’t settle until everything is finalized or you’re screwed. It’s a catch-22 that I would not wish on anyone.

Good point Dash -
Being in an accident is bad news with, or without insurance. And if you're between jobs and without medical....that's risky!
One reason it is important to keep Grady open is because they will treat you with or without insurance. I thought most hospitals would wait for an insurance settlement if you can show proof of insurance.
Hope things get better for Nick.....

I'm sorry to hear.  Nick is a terrific person and deserves better. I hope his recovery is quick.  This business is tough enough. Thanks for the "heads up" Rhodsie.  I wish all of the former 96rock family nothing but the best.

I just found out about this Paypal account:

just go to www.paypal.com, click on "send money", then enter this email address EnglishNickFund@yahoo.com, and follow the other instructions. 100% of what you donate through this will be given directly to Nick when he gets out of the hospital.

Georgia is no fault medical anyway.  You are responsible for your own medical payments that come from a pool set up by your insurance company.  After you max out you then go after the other party which could take years.  My accident took 4 years to settle.
