I am not going to criticize yet because it has been a whopping two shows but I think Charlie & Co. was more impressive after two days. So at what point did someone at CBS Atlanta say "Why didn't we pursue the Regular Guys?"  I think they are positioning this show to go after the Bert Show?Huh What, what?

Larry mentioned yesterday that over 90 days Eric called him about putting the whole thing back together. At that point someone had to have called Dave FM and inquired if they were interested. Even if Cumulus approached them first they would have at least tried to use CBS as leverage?

Unless Zakk Tyler blows up someone has to ask how did we let TRG slip through our hands.

I agree. It would have been a great move for CBS, but I guess everybody wants the Aunt Bert audience. Go figure...

He's been in Atlanta for almost 2 months preparing for his debut and we get this kind of adolesent, small market, hackneyed schtick, not to mention a fingernails on chalkboard voice .. D.O.A. is being kind.  Does anyone at C.B.S. ever listen to a demo tape of someone before they hire them?

I listened again on the way to work this morning and I now have to agree about his voice. I think he sounds like a character from The Simpsons or Professor Farnsworth on Futurama.  Grin

I found the woman working with him more entertaining and engaging than his contribution. Her voice is very smooth. Is she the cute lady that was posted a few days ago?

I do have one positive to add about the show - Denzil sounds great!

the morning show should represent the flagship show, the voice of the station...

DAVE can you do better than this?

Day 4 and I have to keep saying I've not really been impressed. I don't think I will be. I caught him reding something he had written before hand about football. I'm a hockey fan, so I didn't find much interesting about what he had to say. His voice is not growing on me at all. His voice seems like its more suited for a side kick than a lead guy.

I can't beleive CBS didn't go after TRG and instead brought in Professor Farnsworth for their morning show. Orf was so much more entertaining in the morning.

I agree this show is VERY weak and will do nothing to help Dave.  A step backwards from Firfur and Orff if you ask me.   Sounds to me like a guy trying to emulate what he thought a morning show should be 15 years ago, and not having the skills or resources to do it.

And by the way, stop trying to convince us that you are hip and in tune with Atlanta by sprinkling in "local" references to everything.  Just because you can mention local landmarks and street names does NOT mean you are dialed in to the community.   It comes across as extremely fake.  I'd rather hear honest reactions and observations from someone who is new here trying to learn their way around.  At least THAT would be something lots of people could relate to.   For example, no one calls it "Peachtree Street" - it's just Peachtree.   If you were really from here, you would know that.  And stop hating on Bobby Petrino.  You weren't even here when all that happened, so don't feign outrage in an effort to be "relatable."   It's transparent.

How about the witty Varsity references?  Did that totally win you over?  Perhaps he can drop a Big Chicken, or Fulton County Stadium mention just to firm things up for good.

Ask the Zakkster what he misses most about Music Midtown and which was his favorite location. Or perhaps talk about his glory days at the Gold Club hobnobbing with football players.

I did catch him talking to Dave Archer the other day about football and Dave mentioned that Zakkster would be part of the pre-game post-game activities on Dave. Perhaps replacing Mat Chernoff. This divorce is really costing Chernoff some major gigs. Soon he will be on foodstamps.

Will Zakk even making that long. How long before Music Mornings return to the airwaves?

BRING BACK DAVE MARINO even ORFF minus Holly Furburger.

The sidechick though is not bad. I say break out the cold cuts immediately.

Speaking of Chernoff, it amazes me that CBS couldn't figure out a way to put together a show using someone like him, Jimmy, Eric and/or Larry (who were both available at the time), or even a Tim Rhodes. All of those names have legitimate local cred and instant market recognition which is a big bonus when talking about a morning show. This Zakk guy was a mediocre afternoon jock in another city with a very dated act to boot.  It's going to be a ratings bloodbath. Did PD Mike Wheeler hire him when GM Rick Caffey was on vacation? And, by the way, didn't Wheeler put the Bob and Tom abortion on 96 Rock when he was at CC?
