Hello, I have a question for all of you concerning Bay Area Radio and I thought that someone may be able to help me.   I am moving out to San Francisco next month from Pittsburgh, Pa where I have spent some of my freetime involved with a couple of independent-member driven radio stations.  I was just wondering if the Bay Area had any independent / member stations out there where people could be involved with such as board op/ on-air/ programming, etc.  I tried doing an internet search, but I thought that your board might be the best place to ask.  Anyway, what ever advice any of you could give is much appreciated!

Uh, this is where it all began back in 1949 with KPFA, the nation's first member-supported community radio station.  Most of the stations except college and high-school owned stations, have paid board ops and announcers these days.  But there are oh so many stations that are community-oriented and rely on volunteer program producers.

For starters:  KPOO, KPFA, KALW, KUSF, KFJC, KALX, KCEA, KVHS, and KZSU.  Just put an .org after the callsigns and you can find their web pages.  KPOO is a .com though.
