ummm..yeahh...I found out that LPTV stations are a goldmine when teamed up with local cable systems.....

Matt's station isn't on the big cable systems of the area or the satellites and unless you live next door to the tower you don't see it off air either. He has quite a problem. That is why no one sees his station. No one can get it even if they wanted to and I have tried with big antennas and pre-amps and I am only 25 miles from it.

As far as I can tell, local TV never touched it.  I suppose they can plead ignorance, since the golden age of personality-driven radio is a distant, fuzzy memory.  Nonetheless, our "brethren" on the TV side ought to at least show some minimal grasp of the background of this region, beyond the the latest scandal story in the state legislature being fed to them by AP.

I tape "Roy's Folks" on Fox 8 and the VCR has no way of knowing it's not the right night. So last Friday I got a tape of a report on Jack.

Hey, there is something online.

I even sent a news tip to WXII with links and all the important stuff to kick start a report and what did I get?  A response that said: "I will be out of the office starting  03/24/2008 and will not return until 03/26/2008.   I will respond to your message when I return".

Ha,... I call that....ready....."I missed it NEWS".

Typical!  I hate WFMY - always pushing Digg.Com in their sorry lame  no newscasts.  I avoid 2.  Once great now  so lame.

12 use to be better as well.  At least 8 does the job Smiley

From Jack's MySpace page
Jack Armstrong’s Final Sign off - in writing (his book)

"As I write this it has been a little over a year and there have been no radio jobs around. I have a few leads and maybe someday I will find that "next" station but the business seems to get worse and worse each month. Looking back on everything I would have to say it has been a tumultuous ride with some incredible high notes and a LOT of low notes. There has been little or no security and the effort you put forth has almost nothing to do with how valuable an employee you are. If I had to point to a glaring deficiency within the business I would have to say many stations are just very poorly managed with petty jealousy and spite ruling the day. Some stations are bastions of good management and those are the ones we are all trying to work "for" but by their very description they have rare openings. Then again, it is one of the last professions in the whole world where at some rare locations where YOU are actually the WHOLE show. A form of show business that can be as good as YOU can make it. To sum it up I would say I have made millions upon millions of people "FEEL SOMETHING" without causing a great deal of pain. If that was the CREATOR'S plan then MISSION ACCOMPLISHED….if it was just a "personal plan" for me then I didn't let myself down. Besides, I have 3 wonderful healthy grown daughters who I love with ALL my heart and who love me TOO!! WHO could ask for more than that!!!"
