KSTN thread got me thinking...Any National Broadcasting School grads in here?

A really cool thread is going around the Central California page about KSTN.  And while it's not something that I would stand on a chair and announce proudly to the whole room......I did go to NBS back in 1990 or 1991....can't remember.

John Hampton at KSTN was great about giving "noobs" a shot on air.....including myself.

There were a few from NBS that actually DID something with their so called "radio degree".   Tom Sisneros, programmed KMIX in Stockton (short lived country station at 100.9, that I had the pleasure of doing nights at) and did mornings at KJUG for a while.   And I worked at KNCI, Kat in Modesto, KRST in ABQ, B93 in Modesto, KDND, KZZO & KKFS.  Oh,  and there's a guy named Todd, can't remember his last name, does production...I hear him in Vacaville and sometimes in Sac.

As far as anyone else,  I don't know.   I know a few "instructors" worked at KSTN, including a Ken Steele??.  I think that was right.   He once told me I sucked and would never work in radio....

Well, he's right...about the not working in radio.   He's only off by 16 years.

The Todd you're referring to is James...yes, he's at Quick, but in Sac, I don't know...

Good to see you've landed on your feet after Horton brought the Paul Bunyan tour to town and swung the axe on the Burgess tree at Salem Sackamenna.

Looks like you and I have a lot more in common than I thot:

You did the same shift, same frequency as I (nights on 100.9), but different format and call letters, and later in the decade.  Arrakis 5,000 board still?  Grey studio counters?  AKG D112 mic?

How's the lovely Mandy?  Tell her I said "hi."  I miss her.  Delightful lady.

But no, I never darkened the doors of NBS.  You're one of a few I know who have.
