WIBC-FM not only transistioned well, but it looks like they went up a little, too.

Impressive.

I am not a radio expert, so help me understand.  The ownership had a previous station on 93.1 that was doing fairly well in the ratings, and WIBC AM  was still fairly strong in the ratings.  They move WIBC to FM, and increased WIBC's ratings, but 1070's ratings are now abysmal.  It doesnt even look like 1070 is going to even surpass WNDE (perhaps this will change during football season).  If you combine the ratings of the 2 stations, werent they in much better shape before the switch??

950 WXLW was getting around a 1 with ESPN.  So maybe, WFNI 1070 will get a 2 or 3.

If someone would like to see some decent numbers on AM, better play classic country or 50s & 60s
oldies.  Lots of people over 45 years old would love it.  And they don't go for new technology unless
they have to.  But, they won't be waiting much longer.  If no one makes the move soon.  they
will give up on AM for good!

Sources indicate that they were losing money with the former format on 93.1, so if they break-even with 1070 and make more money with WIBC on FM it was a smart move.

I'm sure WFNI 1070 hopes to run the other sports stations off.  Then, they get all the sports fans for
themselves.  Might work.  They have the best signal.

well if any of the others sports stations falter it be WXLW first. WNDE has been doing sports for at least a decade and have a following that even survived the ESPN Radio departure to WXLW in 2002

And Warm 93.9 finally got a share higher than WCBK's.  Mid-America is probably wondering how that happened :p

Think I'll wait to see the 18-49 numbers.  The 12+ numbers are usually WAAAAY off.

It's not that the 12+ numbers are off; they're just completely irrelevant.   No station measures its success by 12+ because no agency or advertiser buys based on 12+.   It's just a vanity number.

However, don't be fooled into thinking that 18-49 tells the whole story either.   Warm, B and the Track are all fighting over 35-54W.   That's where they live or die.
