I guess that's what happens when you sign someone to an insanely high contract (1/2 a billion dollars???) Sirius has to make their money back somehow, so I guess they'll try that way.  I'm a fan of Stern, and enjoy listening to him, but how many people are gonna follow him to pay radio?

and all it will take is 1 million to pay for  Stern over 5 years.

Stern will be lucky to convert 10 percent of his listeners who have not already signed up.

When Howard made his announcement, lots of the hard core base went out and got Sirius, there will be more sign ups come Christmas and when Howard strts, but realistically, Howard is not the Radio personality he was in the late 1980's to mid 1990's

The whole Howard Stern scheme will make or break Sirius, IMO. If they get enough subscribers with Stern, then they can probably break even and show a profit in four or so years...if they don't, I have a feeling somebody (XM) will take over the Sirius satellites and some of the exclusive programming.

My guess is that it will backfire in their face, which is sad, because I have a subscription...

But, you never know...
