Well, it could mean something...or it could be that Young is so hard up for cash that they're willing to share facilities, and want to get some rent money.  Maybe Young is charging less than KNTV's landlord near Broadway, and the agreement would likely include use of KRON's technical facilities, parking, etc.

Even if KNTV is cutting staff, it makes sense for them to have facilities in San Francisco - not even a fraction of the news happens in San Jose.

That's real sad. I used to watch KNTV alot when they were in their final years as ABC from 1997-2000 and when they acquired the WB 2ndary affiliate 2000-2001, However, the prime of KNTV comes when they first acquired NBC in January 2002. They had bright talent back then with Shannon O'Donnell being the top fave when she first came to KNTV with Susan Siravo, Stephanie O'Brien and Chris Flanagan (who is the main anchor for WOI-TV ABC 5 in Des Moines, IA). The real jewel was when Allen Denton originally anchored with Terilyn Joe in 2000 and Lisa Kim in 2002. Unfortunately the downfall of KNTV would be when Allen and Shannon left after Thanksgiving of 2007, in addition, they retooled the 5 PM format and added too many flashes for their newscasts.  Embarrassed God I miss the days of KNTV from 1997-2007 before the cuts came. As for Shannon, she now does weather for KING 5 News at 10 PM on sister station KONG 16 as well as cable station NorthWest Cable News and a sub-anchor for KING 5 Morning News and @ Noon. There's another weather anchor who looks like Shannon from Sacramento from FOX 40 who does the weekend weather and anchor Louisa Hodge, however, with her contract up at the end of the month, she may follow Shannon's footsteps and will likely join KING 5 too,  Undecided but who knows because anything on FOX 40 who works weekends are fine, but I do not like the weekday team at all.

Well, everybody has different tastes I guess.  Personally, I never thought Denton was a good match for this market - his on-air manner was too intense - HE WAS ALWAYS DELIVERING THE NEWS LOUDLY AND DRAMATICALLY...kind of an old-fashioned sensationalist news delivery that the Bay Area hadn't seen since Van Amburg or Judd Hambrick in the 70s. I notice that he had toned it down the last few months - he was probably ordered to by management.

Terilyn Joe made my flesh crawl, and from what I gather - that opinion was held by a lot of people. She dug her own grave when she got negative publicity for her misbehavior in public.  Lisa Kim is fine, but she's still with KNTV after all.  In my opinion, KNTV's news has improved considerably over the last year.

Interestingly, two of KNTV's on-air people have bolted for public agency spokesperson roles - Linton Johnson is now media spokesperson for BART, and I saw Susan Siravo in the same role for a South Bay utility agency  can't remember which one.  Somewhat ironically, perhaps - I saw her presentation on KNTV. You can't blame them - those media spokesperson jobs pay as well as TV reporting, with better job security and regular hours. Except in emergencies involving their agencies, they can go home at 5:00 PM.

Susan works for the San Jose Water District Agency. She left KNTV last April 2007 after her contract was not renewed. Now KNTV though it's good programming, at least there still Lisa and Jessica. Lisa's been around since Doug Moore's final days at KNTV in 1999. But KNTV will always be the best news station, no matter what people say.

Susan is better off.  Those media spokesperson jobs are cushy positions with public sector benefits and a great pension.  She may not be making quite as much money, but I would think those field reporter jobs must cause burn-out...especially now that you have to stay on the job until 11:15 at night to give a "live" ont-the-scene stand-up intro to the videotape you shot at 4:30 that afternoon. It's really BS, but that's what local news requires now.

Maybe NBC finally bought KRON and is planning a stealth move into the San Francisco studio before the announcement.
