Now that they have unconfirmed--and very suspect--rumors about what changes they think may take place (not a single one substantiated it bears repeating), many there are in hysterics.

A made-over set does not mean the end of the world if it comes to pass.  A few games going digital does not mean the end of the world.  Video walls are not the end of the world.  If the pricing games remain, why abandon the show for some cosmetic updates?

One of the rumors also has the game play going from six games a show to four.  Different to be sure, but not the end of the world either.  CBS has been taking back time for commercials for years; it's not beyond the realm of possibility there's more time being taken out next year.  There comes a point where there are only so many "quick" games you can cram in to make it to six in less and less time.  Maybe they reached that tipping point and dropped back to the next even number (IF, and again it's not confirmed) that rumor turns out to be true.

It may the fact I'm pushing 50, or just becoming less tolerant of some of the contestants. Sure, the show has had some real goofballs over the years, but it looks like theyre getting more games in to keep the wilder contestants from freaking out more...and perhaps to "dumb it down"   a bit.

Sometimes, I swear, you could swap out TPIR auidence for Jerry Springer....and thats sad...

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I can't seem to find anything about this from a legitimate news outlet. Everything appears to be rumor on message boards.

Geeze, all this because a producer was fired over a set re-design?

People, get a grip!

It's 2008. That music they used on the show as older than me, as was the general set design.
Yeah, I know, they cropped the old backdrops a little, put some different wallpaper on them. But guess what? It still looked old.
It's time to bring the show into the present. Let's face it, you can change the set and the music or whatever. At the end of the day, its still the same game. Drew has settled in, he was the right choice, TPIR isn't going anywhere.

Now get back to work folks and move it along, there's nothign to see here.

I know Roger. Considering the current set of circumstances he says he is doing ok. He sent me a nice note a couple of weeks ago mentioning how Bob was enjoying his retirement. Well I guess this latest change of events may have ruined that a bit. I have a hunch that whatever shows up on our TV screens in September is going to piss a lot of people off. We'll have to wait and see.

Regarding those guys at Golden-road.net, I have had a rocky relationship with them ever since Marc Green who runs the site turned out to be a huge liar to me. Now he's selfsish to boot by shutting down a site that hardcore Price Is Right fans seem to love and need. He kept the site up when the host of 35 years left. But he takes half the site down when the Producer leaves! Anyone else find that a bit odd? I find it as odd as Marc himself is. A man who has operated a fan site for what now appears to be for all the wrong reasons. That site wasn't there for the fans. That site was there to feed his own ego. Sad but true. If it was truly there for the fans than he would not have changed a damn thing no matter who got fired from the show. He's not a Price is Right fan. He's a Roger Dobkowitz fan. That is now clear.

Well I wish everyone involved much luck as the show takes on this new direction. Whatever is meant to happen will happen.

I have been an avid Price fan for most of my life, and I am very sad about the Dob leaving, and I do fear that it will not be the same show next season. I heard about all those possible changes. It could be a rumor, but it could also very well happen. From what I understand, ever since Bob left, the show's ratings have gone down quite a bit. I even heard that as of right now, The View is higher in ratings. But the reason why Fremantle is doing this is because they want TPIR to go in the same direction as "American Idol."

As for Golden-Road.net, I'm a member there, as well. And I actually know what you're saying about Marc. He is a bit selfish by closing down the site just because the producer left. Both he and John know Roger very well, and they have worked with him directly. One of the really nice things about G-R.net is that they had all this backstage access and views of all the pricing games in the warehouse, and little-known information about TPIR that could not be found anywhere else. That's one thing that will be greatly missed by many Price fans. However, there are a few issues I've had with Marc. In a way, he never seemed much like a fan of the show, and he was always so serious. I remember I talked to him once on AIM, and he was like "Well, hello, what can I do for you today?" I was like, "Whoa! Talk about being serious!" Also, on that website, they basically put up with 0 NONSENSE. If they see a thread that they think is going to cause any kind of drama or problems, they will lock it. And sometimes they ban people pretty easily. I have to say, this is the first time ever I've heard someone else have a similar opinion as me.

Jeopardy is still Jeopardy without the giant letters on the set.  Wheel of Fortune is still Wheel of Fortune with a big video wall.  Price is Right would still be Price is Right with a video wall or if they only play four pricing games instead of six.

Indeed, "get a grip" is accurate.

Now the site is backup with an interesting spin. They said it was down so that could perform Maintanance. Are they forgetting about how Marc Green said he was considering shutting down the whole site because his heart wasn't in it anymore because Dobkowitz got fired? This Marc Green character is nuttier than I even thought. it's bad enough that he's lied to me in the past, but now he just lied to everyone else too. The man has some mental issues.
