Radiogurl:

WTVY, WKMX, and WBBK rank No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 25-54. Under the guidance of Sue and Amy, WTVY has gone from No. 9 to No. 1 in two years, while WBBK has gone from nowhere to top 5 25-54. WLDA has also gotten off to a strong start in its core 18-34. I think that track record speaks for itself - and doesn't sound like someone running it into the ground. WTVY's turnaround is one of the best in America - in any format. Maybe you check your facts before you post.

It's a safe bet that The Radio People would be more than happy to purchase another station in the Dothan market.  But what are their options at this point?  WOOF isn't on the block, and neither is WRJM.  And Since Styles is currently scrambling to cover their debt in the most ludicrous purchase in radio history (i.e. California----120 million???!!!), and on top of that dropped over 6 million for WKMX, and promptly took it from number 2 in the market to number 4, the price tag for a station in that cluster is unattainable. The only hope for TRP at this point would be for Styles to sell off to CC or Cumulus (a day that may or may not be coming).  Under current regs, anyone who purchased Styles would have to spin a station to someone else.
Of course, CC and Cumulus aren't in the business of buying stations that aren't producing, and anyone who listens to the Styles stations can tell they're not (the only station with any significant inventory is WTVY), so it stands to reason the books don't look that great.  Otherwise, how do you explain moving KMX out of Enterprise (which must be going over very well with the staff) because (if the grapevine is functioning properly) Dibacco says the utilities are killing him?

Now, let's talk about running a station into the ground.  There are more ways to achieve this than by having poor ratings.  There's employee morale (non-existent, I can assure you, in the Woods building), there's taking your clients for granted (I'll forego the discussion of the WTVY staff FORGETTING about a remote at their biggest client recently), and then there's the ever-popular throwing your weight around and acting like a big fish in a little pond that Amy (Amie?  I'm not sure of the spelling there) and Sue are positively famous for.  A radio station is the sum of it's parts, and ratings are only a portion of the parts.  If status quo holds, there will be an implosion in downtown Dothan soon.

Not that The Radio People are totally innocent, mind you.  Jerry Broadway has had a really bad year in the hiring/firing department.  How many morning shows can you have in one year and still survive?  Maybe 4 is the magic number.  We'll see.  Confusing the listeners is never good, and while I'm sure it's not intentional, Broadway has certainly done his share of that lately.  Frankly, he should have his head examined for bringing Big Stew back to the market in the first place.  He had to know that the second time around would end just as ugly as the first.  The Reel World company must be making a fortune just from re-cutting the morning show jingles on DJR.

There's nothing like a little small market soap opera to start your day, is there?

This must be Sue or Amy...

1. How do you know that out of 14,000 AM/FM stations in America that TVY was one of the best? Did you go from market-to-market analyzing Arbitron numbers?

2. Track record? How about TVY's 15 years of sucking and only two of remote sucess...?

Actually, if you look at ratings across the U.S., and especially in the Country format - you won't find many stations with a near 17 share.

And if you actually did time to research things - in the fall 04 book - only six stations in markets 101-200 - even posted more than a 17 share.  Don't have the complete Spring results - but that would put WTVY among the top ten highest rated 12+ stations in markets 101-200... Regardless, that's a pretty good group to be in.

Since the last two were the ones that the people you disparaged have overseen it, I think that gives them a pretty good track record.

Remote success??  Averaging well over 11 shares 12+ the last two years is not remote. I suggest you take a math class.

BTW, this is nothing against the Radio People. Clay and his family have run a succeessful business. That was not directed at them - as much as it was the comment about stations being bought and sold and the accusations being made about Styles Media.

I do happen to disagree though that you can fire someone, not pay them, and then prevent them from working.

All this talk about 12+ numbers...please. Get real.

A MONKEY could have turned the crap-fest that was WTVY and made it what it is now. Don't get all high-and-mighty...then again a monkey did go into space.

If you consider floudering sales, "massive 12+ numbers", poor employee moral and crabby bitter radio jocks remote sucess then rock on!

Business is business, and the you cannot deny that all the improvments and consoldation is because the higher ups want you to have "pretty place to work". Within 2 years Styles Dothan will be up for sale.

Hey! Nobody made you sign a non-compete, hell a few years back TRP used to PAY YOU to sign a non-compete. That's pretty cool in my book

Hey Reasearcher,

Here's a clue.  Learn how to read!  Apparently the only thing you can do is quote what someone says to you a book means.  I highly doubt you've ever read one or for that manner could anazlye one if your life depended on it.  That is generally how "yes people" act.

Here is my previous statement:

"I'm sure this will make the great (insert eye roll here) Sue Hughes and Amie Pollard EXTREMELY happy. At last, they will have their back stabbing, snake in the grass, wouldn't know good radio if it slapped them in the face hands on KMX day in and day out. I wonder what wonderful excuse the 2 of them will have to Styles when they continue to successfully try and run a once great radio station in the ground."

I was talking about Amie and Sue (which I am SURE you are one of them) running KMX in the ground and wanting the control of it.  The ONLY mention I made of TVY was the fact that neither of those 2 idiots realize that they play on the same team.

In response, you go and quote facts to me that may or may not be true about WTVY.  Great response! (once again insert eye roll here).  Learn how to defend a point effectively before you fly off the handle.  It all starts by reading and comprehending what was actually written.

WKMX is a great radio station - and will continue to be one. But making comments about their lack of knowledge of great radio baffles me since Amie and Sue have been integral part of the success of WTVY.

Why would anyone inside Styles Media want to see WKMX fail?  You obviously don't know them very well.

Ok Boys and Girls  you all know who I am in the Dothan Market and I have just one point to make WHO CARES IF KMX is moving to Dothan. I mean really does it change what we do NO we still go to our jobs  we still fight for our companys.

As far as the comments about Amie and Sue trying to run "a once great radio station" in the ground. What would be the point it would make us as a cluster look bad. As far as the thought of styles being sold to CC or whomever I started
at CC in Birmingham so the thought of getting knocked out of a job because of one media company buying another. well thats just part of the game besides who could blame the radio people or styles for selling to a larger company.

If KMX moves in Hey welcome to the hood  if not ok whatever  it doesn't change the fact we all do what we do because we love radio
