How about a fm talk format on Peach 94.9?  Hell, nobody can pick up WGST-AM.

As long as it's conservative talk coz there are not enough options for those of us who need to spread the word that B. Hussein Obama is a Muslim. It could even be a viable option for Sean Hannity to leave WSB.

If CC were to get serious about competing with WSB, it would take a high-powered FM.  This goes double if CC wants to put Hannity on a CC station in ATL.  Winter PM drive--with the 50k to 1k power-down for WGST at 5:30 sunsets--would cause problems with Hannity's show.

I go back to my original position: Move WGST to 94.9 and put Legend or MOYL on 640, and sell 96.7 to Davis for a La Raza trimulcast (unless you insist on keeping Patron on the air).

I doubt that CC would put classic hits on 94.9 and take dead aim at River (and Rock 100.5, and True Oldies...)

Talking to your daughter again about the tech stuff? Actually, your (her) assessment make a lot of sense.

I used to listen 105.7 over WSB but living in Cherokee I got a great signal Does anyone have the previous ratings breakdown of GST before and after GST was dropped as the simulcast? I would like more of an all news channel. NYC has two very succesful ones, not sure it would work as well down here. WCBS does now include Yankee games. WINS does better in the city but CBS does better in the burbs because it is a clear channel.

She wanted to put Radio Disney on 101.5 because of its powerful 100kW intown signal, but I had to break it to her that Mickey Mouse no longer owns that station.  I mentioned that there's an FM in Cleveland, GA that might be for sale soon, but she said that 3k watts out of Cleveland wouldn't be enough to cover the 6-12 target demo in Gwinnett County.

Wouldn't flipping 94.9 back to Peach be admitting defeat? The last time an Atlanta business did that was Coke with the New Coke debacle. Never admit you made an error

I think the folks at Coca-Cola would disagree.  Admitting that mistake and taking action saved their position as the market leader.  Not that that analogy would hold up with CC Atlanta who is clearly NOT a market leader, but still...

In Pittsburgh, Clear Channel put news/talk on 104.7, and it was a major ratings success. They did not name it after a fruit, they called it "News/Talk 104.7". It prety much rubbed heritage station KDKA-AM's nose in the dirt.

Also in Pittsburgh, CBS attempted a "lite" talk format on 92.9 called "The Man Station". It bombed miserably.

The result -- News/Talk 104.7 is doing very well in the ratings, and CBS is talking about selling both KDKA-AM and whatever they're now calling 92.9 (it used to be KDKA-FM a long, long time ago).

Among all the successes and failures, one thing remains constant. None of the stations were named after fruit.

I need to tone down the number of posts. It is just some people continue to just post blatant B.S. on the board but I am going to take an ignore the user appraoch in order to not feed the ego of a delusionary person.  From now on when I see such posts I will simply throw my hands in the air and yell "Serenity Now".
